Adelaide, tying with Gold Coast, has been named the healthiest cities in Australia in a new study by Mandoe Media, with Melbourne, Perth and Sydney rounding out the top 5.
Brisbane missed a top 5 place, ranking 6th, and the nation’s capital ranked 12th.
Where you live can greatly impact your health, wellbeing and happiness, so let’s dive into the data to uncover Australia’s healthiest cities.
Wellness ratings were based on five categories; gym availability, gym interest, healthy restaurant availability, healthy restaurant quality and outdoor activity availability.
Overall, Adelaide and the Gold Coast offer Australia’s best environments for healthy living.
Where the Gold Coast is slightly ahead on healthy restaurants, Adelaide offers better access to gyms, however both cities had strong results across all metrics.
Adelaide came fifth both in categories of access to gyms and more importantly, most gym-curious with a high amount of fitness and health related Google searches.
Another one of our achievements is coming second in Australia’s highest-rated healthy restaurants, following Gold Coast’s win.
Our abundance of restaurants for health foodies like Argo on the Parade, Nutrition Republic and the Nourish’d Kitchen has worked its wonders.
Australia has an enviable reputation for its lifestyle, but where you live can determine how easy it is to access opportunities to stay healthy.
Although Adelaide may not take the number one spot in any category, we can pride ourselves on the fact that we take place in the top five for 4 out of 5 categories.
