After the success of its Artist Market, AVCon is back with another event and this one is sure to be a hit with Adelaide’s night owls.
Merging the nightlife scene with pop culture, AVCon After Dark is bringing you a Neo Tokyo party complete with Japanese food, anime-themed drinks, cosplay competition and an exclusive sneak peek into AVCon’s next project!
And if you thought anime cocktails were the drawcard for this event, wait until you see the venue. Held at the breath-taking pop-up venue Kudasai Yakiniku, the venue channels the atmosphere of the streets of Tokyo, giving you a chance to experience a night out in Asia without having to leave Adelaide.
AVCon convenor, Thao Vuong, dubbed the venue as ‘perfect’ for the After Dark events theme of ‘Neo Tokyo’.
“With its outdoor street party vibe as well as access to an underground bar, it’s the best of both worlds to bring Neo Tokyo to AVCon’s After Dark 2022,” she says.
Kudasai Yakiniku is a quality laneway eatery that offers a premium BBQ experience that is sure to take your tastebuds on a flavourful journey. Some of the meats on offer include wagyu short rib, pork belly and unagi eel.
After a two-year hiatus from its After Dark events, the AVCon organisers are ready to turn up and although AVCon Festival will not be returning this year in its full form, the collection of mini-events will be sure to fill the void.
“After Dark is a fan-favourite piece of the main AVCon festival,” Thao says.
“It was a great way for attendees to hang out and party together after the main event.”
This AVCon After Dark will also bring back aspects of the regular convention that attendees have missed from the postponement of the main AVCon festival.
“We’re really excited to make a return to the events that they love,” Thao says.
AVCon will collaborate with their new and long-standing sponsors, including Lumin’s Workshop and Sony Pictures to offer a variety of prizes on the night.
“We hope to get a nice crowd of people who’ll come for our pop-up night stalls, cosplay, prizes as well as being the first to see a soft launch into something Team AVCon has been working on.”
AVCon After Dark will take place on Friday July 8th with tickets starting from $20 and can be purchased here.
