Adelaide-based comedian and recipient of the 2021 Spirit of the Fringe weekly award Kym Mackenzie returns to the Adelaide Fringe!
His Fringe show, The Piglet, Kym’s Overall Extravaganza Showcase – Volume 2 continues the story of Kym’s life that has taken dramatic, hilarious, and at times terrifying, turns, yet adversity fuels his passion to entertain and share.
Kym’s artistic talents continue to flourish despite the extreme challenges of living with a disability in the midst of COVID-19 restrictions.
The lived experience of intellectual disability, isolation, and finding community through the arts scene as a young performer fostered confidence and pride in Kym’s talents, and impressed upon him the power that story and performing have to connect and inspire.
After last year’s sell-out debut during Adelaide Fringe season, the state welcomes Kym back with open arms, ready to enjoy, what can only be described as entertaining and wholesome.
Kym Mackenzie began treading the boards as an actor in 1992 with the Bedford Players.
Now he is well known amongst the local scene volunteering at events and festivals or proudly cheering on his friends from the audience. While Kym loves to share the stage, he is excited to be refining his craft as a solo performer in Adelaide.
He has worked with Restless Dance, No Strings Attached Theatre of Disability, Backstairs Theatre Company and Southern Youth Theatre Ensemble and has show-credits ranging from the Adelaide Fringe, Adelaide Festival and Kickstart Festival (Canada).
He’s toured around Regional South Australia and the Gold Coast as well as touring internationally to Singapore, South Korea and Canada.
His show is guaranteed to entertain you and to leave you feeling good and has been described as “tonic” for a cynical soul.
He has been called a natural born entertainer, with his previous works being hailed as utterly resplendent.
