The Eyre Peninsula welcomes the new seaside luxury villas at the popular Baird Bay seaside tourism destination

Tucked away amidst the untouched beauty of South Australia’s west coast, Baird Bay Seaside Villas offer a new definition of luxury.

It’s open waters at the newly renovated Baird Bay Experience, as the season returns with new owners at the helm. Luxury travel specialists, The Tailor are offering a once in a lifetime opportunity to swim with Dolphins and Sea lions, as well as introducing a regionally inspired lunch prepared by an acclaimed chef, alongside a stunning new accommodation offering, on the beautifully rugged coastline of the Eyre Peninsula.

Tucked away amidst the untouched beauty of South Australia’s west coast, Baird Bay Seaside Villas offer a new definition of luxury: one that intertwines serenity, nature, and thoughtful design.

Two self-contained villas, aptly named Selki and Eko, are all about understated elegance. Selki, a single-story haven, accommodates up to six guests in three spacious king bedrooms, each boasting an ensuite bathroom for utmost privacy. Eko, a two-story retreat, welcomes larger groups of up to eight with its four king bedrooms, also equipped with ensuite bathrooms. Both villas feature flexible bedding arrangements, with king beds convertible to twins, catering to diverse group dynamics.

Beyond the private quarters, a shared oasis awaits. Guests can unwind in the communal outdoor lounge, fire up the BBQ for al fresco dining, or take a refreshing dip in the inviting pool – all while soaking in the dramatic backdrop of the rugged coastline. The interiors feature soothing neutral tones and natural materials, with seagrass, linen, and timber fostering a calming ambiance. Local artistry, from Indigenous artworks to handmade lighting, further anchor the villas in the spirit of Baird Bay.

Baird Bay Seaside Villas are an invitation to embrace a slower pace of life. Here, days are punctuated by whale watching, swimming with dolphins and sea lions, and leisurely strolls along the pristine coastline. As the sun sets, guests can savour chef-prepared meals that echo the flavors of the region. Whether seeking a romantic escape or a family adventure, Baird Bay Seaside Villas redefines luxury as an immersion in nature, refined by thoughtful craftsmanship and local artistry.

The villas are only one part of the incredible Baird Bay Experience. Located near popular Streaky Bay, the destination is known for their signature swimming tours, where guests play with sea lions and can see first-hand why they’re nicknamed “the puppies of the sea”. Visitors can then swim peacefully among a pod of dolphins in a giant natural rock pool.

For Founder and Managing Director of The Tailor, Drew Kluska, Baird Bay holds a special place in his heart – having grown up in the region. He’s also sent many clients to the Bay, during his 25 plus years in the industry.

“Having the honour of continuing the legacy of Baird Bay, which Alan and Trish Payne pioneered more than 30 years ago, feels like a full circle moment for me and I cannot wait to connect our guests with the untouched beauty and rich biodiversity of the Eyre Peninsula,” Drew said.

“The renovated villas and the elevated sea lion and dolphin tours, complete with a regionally inspired culinary offering, mark a significant moment for Baird Bay and cements it as a bucket list experience in Australia’s tourism landscape.”

The new season opened on Monday with renowned guide Brendon Bevan leading the aquatic adventures complemented by culinary delights and the tranquil luxe of the newly renovated villas.

With more than 25 years of guiding experience, Brendon previously managed some of Australia’s leading premium lodges, including Arkaba Conservancy, Bamurru Plains and Sal Salis Ningaloo Reef to name a few.

“Our wild sea lion and dolphin swims offer intimate and respectful wildlife encounters in the pristine waters of Baird Bay. These tours are a cornerstone of our commitment to sustainable tourism and provide an unparalleled opportunity to engage with the natural world up close,” Brendon said.

Brendon is joined by his wife and experienced lodge manager, Kat Bevan, who brings to the team extensive expertise across luxury and outback lodges in Australia. Kat’s deep-seated knowledge and enthusiasm crafting unforgettable experiences that highlight the symbiotic relationship between nature and humanity will ensure guests have inspiring and memorable encounters.

Following each ocean tour, guests can enjoy a regionally inspired lunch prepared by an acclaimed chef.

The specially prepared lunch highlights the rich culinary heritage of the Eyre Peninsula, crafted by acclaimed Head Chef Calvin Von Niebel, who says the menu is rooted in the essence of the Eyre Peninsula — from source to plate.

“Dining at Baird Bay is an experience set against the backdrop of stunning natural locations with an approach to food that remains simple yet exceptional. We focus on informal dining where the quality of produce and the purity of flavours shine through,” Calvin said.

The Baird Bay Seaside Villas are also available for all-inclusive buyouts, which include full use of the property, dedicated guides, private chef, and a tailored experience program akin to your own private lodge in a coastal fishing village.
