Barossa Cider Co is seeing gold after winning two trophies at this year’s 2021 Royal Adelaide Beer and Cider Awards.

The company’s Squashed Apple Cider took home the title of Best Cider in Show and Best Australian Cider Exhibit in this year’s awards, while also winning the Gold Medal. Barossa Cider Co’s Squashed Pear and Squashed Cloudy Cider were also awarded Silver Medals.

This year 299 entries were made to Adelaide’s Beer and Cider Awards from all over the country and judged by a blind panel of industry experts.

The success of the company follows on from their win in 2019, where Barossa Cider Co was awarded three gongs during the awards show.

“As a family owned business, established in 2013, we are really proud our ciders have consistently been awarded these accolades,” says Oscar Bowen, Co-Owner and Director.

“Our aim when we started this business was to produce the best possible easy drinking cider that would appeal to a broad demographic using only 100% SA grown Apples and Pears, and we are extremely proud to receive this validation of what we originally set out to achieve.”

The multi-award-winning Squashed Apple Cider is rich and refreshing, made with fresh apples and fermented to produce a sweet floral and creamy texture. The natural acidity of the cider delivers a subtle velvety finish.

Using hand-picked South Australian apples and pears, the ciders are produced and fermented using luxe Champagne yeast, which extracts the desired intensity from the fruit while creating delicate bubbles.

The trail-blazing brother duo, Oscar and Hugo, are pretty chuffed that they’ve put Barossa Cider Co on the map and will continue striving towards making the best craft cider in Australia, and of course, the world.
