Barossa Helicopters has introduced its most ambitious offering yet: the Epic South Australia Pub Crawl by Helicopter. Scheduled to coincide with the Gather Round festival, the event is set for April 10th and 11th. This premium adventure, costing $1,800 per person, provides participants with the opportunity to visit four iconic country pubs within the Barossa, Riverland, and Light regions, complete with stunning aerial views of South Australia’s landscape.
The journey kicks off at Barossa Helicopters’ base located in the historic Hoffnungsthal Valley, where guests board their helicopter. The adventure promises a mix of breathtaking scenery, regional cuisine, and country hospitality.
The expedition’s itinerary is meticulously planned, beginning with a touchdown at the Sedan Hotel. Here, attendees can admire historic Dry Stone Walls and enjoy a welcome drink in a traditional country setting. The adventure then heads to the historic Swan Reach Hotel, known for its dramatic location by the Murray River and rich heritage dating back to 1865. It offers guests river views and insights into the historical significance of the region.
For lunch, the helicopter lands at the acclaimed Overland Corner Hotel, once a bustling hub for paddle steamers and drovers. Guests will have the opportunity to try a selection of local craft beers, wines, and spirits while they delve into the venue’s reportedly haunted past.
The final stop is the renowned Wheatsheaf Hotel, where the hosts, Mark and Chelsea, will provide a warm welcome, exceptional food, and an authentic outback experience. It promises to be a memorable finale to the day.
“We wanted to create something truly extraordinary that showcases the best of South Australia from a perspective few get to experience,” commented the chief pilot Bridgette Hasting. She continued, “This isn’t just a pub crawl – it’s a journey through our region’s history and countryside that leaves guests with memories to last a lifetime.”
The launch is tactically aligned with the Gather Round festival, aiming to offer festival-goers and locals an extraordinary experience that complements their festivities.
During the flight, passengers will enjoy aerial views of notable sites including the winding Murray River, historic Kapunda with its famous “Map the Miner” statue, and the beautiful South Australian landscape.
“The appetite for unique travel experiences has never been stronger,” noted Bridgette. She shared that more Australians are now seeking adventures that offer new perspectives on beautiful regions. The team is excited to present South Australia’s exceptional country hospitality from the skies.
With over 37 years of operation, Barossa Helicopters has built a reputation for providing scenic flights, food & wine experiences, and custom charter services. The introduction of the Epic South Australia Pub Crawl by Helicopter further diversifies its premium experiential tourism offerings.
Bookings for the experiences on April 10th and 11th are now available. They are, however, limited due to the high demand expected during the popular Gather Round festival period.
