Barossa Heads To Port Adelaide For Wonderwalls Festival

39 wineries, 3 distillers, the farmers’ market, a local eatery, a musician and a street-artist will bring a snapshot of the character, artistry and generosity of Barossa to the Port for this one-day event.

Port Adelaide will welcome an influx of international, Australian and local street artists to once again transform the Port’s blank walls, thanks to Wonderwalls Port Adelaide.

This year will roll on from the success of Wonderwalls Port Adelaide 2019, with the main event running over the weekend of the 6-8 of March.

This year, the Barossa Valley are collaborating with the street art festival through Barossa. Be Consumed x Wonderwalls, a wine tasting event on Sunday 7 March.

39 wineries, 3 distillers, the farmers’ market, a local eatery, a musician and a street-artist will bring a snapshot of the character, artistry and generosity of Barossa to the Port for this one-day event.

In a unique twist on street-art, attendees will have the opportunity to take home a piece of the event’s live street art installation. Local artist Arlon Hall, best known for his fluid abstract pieces, will be painting live on a base of salvaged wine cartons, drawing inspiration from Barossa and the event’s activity.

You will be able to taste the products of participating wineries, which include First Drop Wines, Kellermeister, Lindsay Wine Estate, Penfolds, Whistler Wines, Hentley Farm, Seppeltsfield Road Distillers, and many more.

Alongside Barossa Be. Consumed x Wonderwalls is a landmark event where Chefs of Barossa’s renowned eateries will join forces with wineries and distillers to present a single dining experience, “Barossa, Our Story”. Driven by a 50+ strong collaborative force, the dinner is set to be a sumptuous look into the diversity, talent and generosity of Barossa’s contemporary culinary story.

Over five courses the team will explore the very DNA that gives Barossa its stellar reputation for wine and food globally:

Small bites and sticky fingers, super tasty, contemporary restaurant snacks. Gin cocktails, sparkling and rosé

Fermented, cured and raw #1, Barossa food personified by a “sauer” specialist with a twist from an Italian raised on produce straight from “il contadino’ (the farmer). Aromatic and refreshing whites

From the earth, all about the season’s bounty, sustainability and a lighter footprint. Lighter shades of red wine

From frugality to multi-culturalism, celebrating our food journey from settlement to today, solid plant- based food with sides of carnivorous treats. Chartered Tour de Force, heroes of the Barossa Old Vine Charter

Fermented, cured & raw #2, inspired by the Barossa Farmers’ Market. Wines of rich and lingering style

Self-confessed member of the ‘old guard’ of Barossa dining, Mark McNamara of St Hugo Restaurant said “This is the first time in a long time that chefs of Barossa have worked together to create a truly collaborative event. Egos aside this is about celebrating Barossa, the amazing melting pot of food and wine that has been quietly bubbling away for the best part of two hundred years.

With some incredible new venues, styles and personalities emerging in both food and wine, there is no better time than now to share our new Barossa story.”

Rounding out the diverse kitchen team of the old and new guard are Peter Clarke (Vintners Bar & Grill), Tim Bourke (Stelzer Road Supper Club), Ryan Edwards (Vino Lokal), Matteo Carboni (Casa Carboni), Kyle Johns (three75 bar + kitchen), Sam Smith (Fino Seppeltsfield) and Julian Velasquez (El Estanco).

Each of the long tables will be presented with individual wine lists, featuring the likes of Hentley Farm, Cirillo Estate Wines, Penfolds, Whistler, Two Hands Wines, Purple Hands, Yalumba, Turkey Flat Vineyards and more. A gin bar with locals Barossa Distilling Company, Seppeltsfield Road Distillers and Durand Distillers and wine tasting lounge will beckon as the night progresses.
