Newly released data from the world’s most downloaded wine review app, Vivino, show Rob Gibson of Gibson Wines and Ben Glaetzer of Glaetzer Wines have hit the top of the charts for their respective drops.
Their respective vinous gems, the Gibson ‘Bin 60’ Cabernet Sauvignon/Shiraz and the Glaetzer ‘Eye of Ra’ Shiraz, have kickstarted the year by claiming the joint top rating, as reviewed by consumers, on the Vivino app. This achievement places their Barossa creations at the summit of a staggering 17 million wines listed on Vivino.
Vivino, a global wine app with over 67 million users, has become an indispensable tool for wine enthusiasts. It empowers consumers to effortlessly scan any wine label using their smartphones, granting instant access to tasting notes, food pairing suggestions, and the opportunity to share personal reviews. Users can also conveniently purchase wine directly from the app, making it an invaluable resource for wine lovers worldwide.
Both Gibson and Glaetzer’s wines boast an impressive 4.8 out of 5 stars on Vivino, solidifying their positions as the highest-rated offerings on the platform. They share this honor with a rare Châteauneuf-du-Pape bottling by the esteemed French vintner Pierre Usseglio, known for producing just a single barrel of this exceptional wine.
Similarly elusive, the 2008 Gibson ‘Bin 60’ Cabernet Shiraz, with fewer than 100 bottles remaining from the winery’s Cellar Door, commands a price of $385 per bottle. Crafted by Rob Gibson as a legacy bottling for his 60th birthday, this wine has matured gracefully for 16 years and is now at its peak for enjoyment.
“To be honest, we weren’t even aware of it until a long-term collector of ours pointed it out,” he said.
“I guess what is special is that our down-to-earth approach can stand shoulder to shoulder with the best of the 245,000 wineries from around the world on Vivino.”

Vivino’s top ten also features two Australian icons, Penfolds Grange and Torbreck The Laird, along with fine wine collectibles from Schrader (Napa Valley, USA) and Antinori (Tuscany, Italy). These wines represent a global tapestry of exceptional craftsmanship and terroir expression.
Ben Glaetzer’s ‘Eye of Ra’ Shiraz, a labor of love and a quest for vinous perfection, showcases the Northern Barossa’s finest fruit, particularly Shiraz from the Ebenezer district. The bottles are currently priced at $650 per bottle and limited to three bottles per customer, making it a true collector’s treasure.
“It took over 30 years of learning, hard work, and discovering the potential of the vines before the Eye of Ra became possible,” Ben said.
“I always knew it would be a labor of love, but the satisfaction lies in knowing that fellow wine lovers appreciate it.”
As they share the limelight on Vivino, their remarkable journey through vineyards and cellars continues to inspire wine aficionados around the world.
