The Grant Burge Meshach Cellar Door has long been a cherished stop on the Barossa map, welcoming visitors with open arms and even more generous pours. For years, it has been the scene of first tastings, special celebrations, and plenty of long afternoons where one glass somehow turned into a bottle shared with friends.
On 26 March, the doors quietly closed with a simple Facebook post, marking the end of an era for this much-loved cellar door.
But don’t put the cork back in just yet. This isn’t a final farewell. In true Barossa fashion, Grant Burge is simply preparing for its next vintage — a fresh chapter, set to open in a brand-new home very soon.

For some, the Grant Burge Meshach Cellar Door was where they discovered their go-to Shiraz, for others, it was the start of a lifelong love affair with Barossa wine. And while it is tempting to wallow a little in nostalgia, the good news is that this is not a final farewell.
Grant Burge’s next story is already swirling in the glass. Plans are in motion to relocate to the iconic St Hugo Brand Home at Rowland Flat, right in the heart of the valley.
From mid-2025, visitors will be able to enjoy a fresh take on the Grant Burge experience, co-located alongside St Hugo, promising a destination that celebrates both labels without losing what makes each of them so loved.

Andrew McDowell, National Cellar Door Manager, hinted at the big picture, saying, “The move presents a wonderful opportunity to create a compelling wine destination in the Barossa Valley and boost visitation for both the Grant Burge and St Hugo experiences.”
In other words, this is not just a change of address. It is a chance to bring together two Barossa favourites under one roof, creating a space where great wine and good stories continue to flow.
Wine lovers with a little Barossa knowledge might recognise the St Hugo site as familiar territory for Grant Burge. It was at the Rowland Flat location, back in 1985, where the winery first opened its original cellar door.

This next step feels less like a move and more like a homecoming, only this time with a few extra bells and whistles.
While the final details are still quietly fermenting, and the official opening date is yet to be confirmed, fans can rest assured that something special is on the horizon.
For now, the best advice is to keep an eye on Grant Burge’s socials and get ready to raise a glass when the time comes.
