How would you like the chance to relive the past whilst simultaneously gazing into the future? Perhaps that sounds a little outlandish, but we assure you it’s possible…as early as this weekend, because Australia’s only Tesla Cybertruck has landed in Adelaide to feature at the annual Bay to Birdwood classic car rally on Sunday, October 20th.
That’s right: the only Tesla Cybertruck currently navigating Australian roads has arrived in Adelaide this week just in time for one of the world’s great historic motor events, as well as a highly-anticipated pit stop in Rundle Mall this Friday and Saturday. After visiting Perth last week, the futuristic-looking, electronically-powered pick-up truck will be appearing at the finish-line festival alongside 1500 vintage vehicles this weekend as one of the focal points of the Bay to Birdwood event. It will not be driving in the convoy.
Spanning back to 1980, the Bay to Birdwood is heralded as the largest continually-held motoring event for rare, vintage, and classic cars anywhere in the world. This highly respected event brings together the motoring community and collectors from around the world for a celebration of historic motorcars, motorcycles, and commercial vehicles.
Punters who attend the parade in the morning can follow along as a host of 1500 entrant vehicles travel a 67 kilometre route from the golden beaches of West Beach to the National Motor Museum in the Adelaide Hills town of Birdwood. Then, at the Finish Festival in the afternoon, attendees can soak up the wonderful atmosphere and entertainment, admire hundreds of rare historic vehicles, enjoy quality regional produce, Adelaide Hills craft beer, wines and spirits plus delicious gourmet street food served by local food trucks.
Glam Adelaide’s Kelly Noble will be MCing the day, so if you head along, make sure you say hello!
For those eager to dress up and engage in a bit of friendly competition, visitors are encouraged to don their best vintage clothing and enter the Fashions on the Field competition for best period-dress. As an integral element of the Bay to Birdwood, the Fashions on the Field competition celebrates the relationship between fashion, motoring, and personality. Participants are encouraged to step back through time and assemble outfits that blend personal flair and period details from 1900-1994 to correspond with the parade of entrant vehicles.

Tickets are available now, with limited spots at these “Back to the 90s” prices. Don’t miss the chance to step back in time, save big, and enjoy a day of motoring history fun, with the added twist of feasting your eyes on Tesla’s futuristic Cybertruck. Book online to avoid disappointment and the queues at the gate.
