Brighton Beach locals now have an extra excuse to spend more time by the water this summer with the opening of Beach Bistro Brighton right by the shore. Located on top of the Brighton Surf Life Saving Club, this casual dining spot provides expansive ocean views and a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere.
“It’s a big change for my partner and I,” shared Bistro owner Vicky Gorst.
“We wanted to look for something in the food industry, and the club hasn’t had anything food-wise in the past six months, just food trucks downstairs. We noticed that this wasn’t quite the right fit for the 600 members, so everything really just fell into place.”
Opting to move away from formal fine dining, Beach Bistro aims to bring families and friends together for an ‘affordable yet delicious’ meal.
“At the moment we’re doing takeaway lunches, gourmet sandwiches, salads, and burgers, so people can come off the beach and easily grab a bite to eat. Also, picnic baskets for on the beach and grazing platters.
“From Friday to Sunday evenings, we have a full bistro menu that’s priced under $30. Our menu includes options like Asian beef salad, hand-crumbed schnitzels, and house-made sauces. It’s designed not just for club members but also for anyone looking for a great meal.”
Their menu features classics with attention to detail such as house-crumbed schnitzels and brisket burgers, alongside veggie options like a fresh rainbow salad or tasty crumbed cauliflower perfect for those hot summer nights. And for the under 12’s there is a kid-friendly menu guaranteed to keep the little ones happy.
Vicky shares that, unlike the clubs in neighbouring beachside towns, Saturday nights are for the whole family at Beach Bistro.
“Friday and Sundays are more adult-focused. They can sit out on the deck with a grazing board whilst having a few drinks, whereas Saturdays are focused on families and children. We have toys and a tv for the kids.
“Unlike the other surf lifesaving clubs that are now more like restaurants, it’s important for us that our members and locals alike can afford to eat here and have an enjoyable time with the people they love.”
As the bistro is still in its infancy, it is currently open Friday to Sunday, 4–9 pm, with dinner and drinks on Fridays and Sundays and family-friendly meals on Saturdays. Bookings are essential!
