Beach Road Wines hosts Fondu and Groove retro affair amidst vineyard vistas

Beach Road Wines is throwing a Fondu and Groove event this August during the Fleurieu Food Festival with vintage vibes, savoury fondues and delectable wines.

Festival season is upon us, and this August, the Fleurieu Food Festival is set to delight foodies and wine enthusiasts alike. Embracing the spirit of the ’70s, the Fondu and Groove event at Beach Road Wines promises an evening of vintage vibes, savoury fondues, delectable wines, and a laid-back ambiance that will transport you to a bygone era.

Get ready to don your grooviest attire and indulge in this cozy, rustic, and relaxed gathering in the picturesque McLaren Vale.

Briony and Tony Hoare, the heart and soul behind this family-owned winery, have been crafting their vintages since 2002.

Their journey from a humble homebrew setup to owning a breathtaking cellar door overlooking the scenic McLaren Vale vineyards has been nothing short of extraordinary.

As the sun sets over the vines, the atmosphere at Beach Road Wines comes alive with warm, inviting lights that beckon guests to their tables. The cellar door’s charm lies not only in its panoramic views but also in the sense of community it fosters.

The pizza and wine experience, a Beach Road Wines specialty, has delighted visitors for years, but this time, the team wanted to curate something fresh and delightful – thus, the Fondue & Groove was born.

Local DJ Es’Ay, known for spinning retro vinyl tracks, will set the mood for the night with the smoothest ’70s tunes. A mesmerising disco ball will scatter shimmering lights across the verandah as guests sway to the rhythm of the era.

What’s a fondue without its creamy counterpart? The cheese fondue, paired perfectly with Beach Road Wines’ latest releases, is bound to be a crowd-pleaser. Local cheese from Alexandrina Cheese, a Fleurieu favourite, adds a delightful touch of artisanal charm to the experience.

And it doesn’t stop there! Briony and the team are concocting a playful surprise – a chocolate fondue fountain. Imagine dipping delectable treats into velvety chocolate while sipping on their delightful fortified wines.

At Beach Road Wines, they believe that wine is meant to be enjoyed by all, without intimidation. The Fondue & Groove perfectly aligns with their ethos of creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

“Wine can be so intimidating, so we just wanted an event that was more relaxed, and it fits better with our vibe which is chill and rustic. We know everyone can enjoy wine and cheese,” Briony says.

For those looking to add a little spice to the night, ‘Habanero A Go Go,’ a local Fleurieu chili producer, will be offering tastings of their epic chili sauces, ranging from mild to fiery hot.

The outdoor verandah, complete with heaters and ample seating, provides a charming setting for an intimate gathering of 60-80 people. And for those who feel the rhythm move them, dancing under the tree on the paved area is warmly encouraged.

Beach Road Wines is renowned for its Italian grape varieties, such as fiano and aglianico, making it a haven for wine enthusiasts seeking to explore unique and exquisite flavors.

The cellar door is open Thursdays to Mondays from 11 am to 4 pm, with occasional night functions that add a touch of enchantment to their regular offerings.

So mark your calendar for August 12th, and secure your spot at Fondu and Groove. Don your grooviest ’70s attire and join in the culinary merriment amidst the beautiful vines of McLaren Vale. Relish the tastes, groove to the beats, and create memories that will last a lifetime at this unforgettable event brought to you by the Fleurieu Food Festival and Beach Road Wines.
