In the summer months, dinner at the beach is a staple of Australian life. Most warm nights, you’ll find us dining with a glass of wine out the front of a beachside restaurant, or on the beach with our grey butcher’s paper of fish and chips from the local chip shop (complete with sand and chicken salt). But what about if you want those same vibes in winter? Chances are, if you sat on the beach with fish and chips you’d end up with hypothermia and a mouthful of sand. Luckily, Stella Restaurant are prime position on Henley Square, so you’ll be able to look out at the 180° views of the jetty and the sea from your warm table inside the restaurant while enjoying one of their winter meal deals.
In an open dining area boasting natural light and plenty of room, you’ll feel like you’ve been whisked to a small beachside town on the European coastline. The yellow and white striped capri-style shades, natural wooden furniture and indoor fireplace further epitomise this image, as does the pizza courtesy of their ‘Pizza Technician’ head chef who has spent 35 years working out of Northern Italy.
With an extensive pizza range including meatball pizza and roast pear pizza, you’ll be amazed by their unique and delicious flavours. At only $39 for two pizzas and two house wines/beers on Tuesdays and Thursdays, you’ll be unlikely to get a traditional quality pizza this close to the beach anywhere else.
Pizza not tickling your fancy? That’s fine. Head down on a Friday or Saturday night for a 3-course winter meal deal for $39pp. The deal that only just started this week and runs through til the end of August includes an entreé, main and dessert. We suggest trying the chicken, liver and cognac housemade paté for an entreé; pork belly on cauliflower and tilsit pureé with truffle oil and apple and shaved fennel salad for your main; and to finish, a vanilla panacotta with saffron, cardamon and honey syrup with pistachio and crostoli.
Their ever-evolving cocktail menu and proximity to the Henley Square lawns (they’re right in front of the restaurant) means Stella’s ideal for families, a dinner with mates, or a couple’s romantic night out. With the main carpark in Henley Square right next door, you won’t have far to waddle to your car after being filled to the brim with incredible food from these value meal deals.
