Find the best skincare regime for you with the OCosmedics SkinDNA test at Eve on 21

A skin DNA test avaiable at beauty clinic Eve on 21 can now look at your skin’s individual genetic makeup to see its strengths and weaknesses.

Like you, we have hundreds of skincare bottles lined up on our cabinets to try and achieve that smooth and glowy skin.

The average woman uses 12 different beauty products every day.

Going in blind, we often don’t know what skincare or treatments we should be using on our individual skin to keep our complexion looking healthy as we continue to age.

Like looking into a crystal ball, a skin DNA test from OCosmedics can now look at our skin’s individual genetic makeup to see its strengths and weaknesses.

One of the places doing this test is beauty and wellness clinic Eve on 21 who offers a range of minimally invasive and enhancement cosmetic treatments.

“It’s pretty incredible to look on a deeper DNA level to see what our skin will be prone to. We’re now in the age of prevention rather than correction,” Director of beauty and wellness clinic Eve on 21 Nadia Willison says.

The once in a lifetime test helps inform individuals and their skin clinicians of skin recommendations based on their DNA and the five major causes of ageing.

The five major areas which are considered to contribute and fast track declining skin health are:
Collagen breakdown – plays a major role in the skin’s appearance
Photo defence – measures our skin’s defence from the sun
Glycation – looks at your skin’s predisposition to damage
Oxidation – the skin’s ability to naturally defend free radicals
Inflammation – measures the skin’s “trigger” genes which may lead to sensitivity issues

“I think it’s a really cool tool that people can use so they know what they can expect from their skin. It’s also always gratifying to know that what we’ve been prescribing to people is the best thing regardless,” Nadia says.

The SkinDNA test is super easy to do and non-invasive. All it requires is a mouth swab and then it’s sent off for analysing.

“After doing the test you might feel more inclined to look after your skin and invest in the areas you need,” Nadia says.

From your individual results, beauty and wellness clinic Eve on 21 can give you an extensive plan with targeted topical skincare, professional treatments and internal supplements.

“Prevention is important because in the long run it will save you quite a lot of money,” Nadia says.

There’s a range of things you can do to prevent ageing and to keep your skin looking fresh.

Nadia suggests having a regular skincare routine, even if it’s only using a few products.

She says sunscreen is an absolute must and use of retinol for cellular turnover and exfoliating regularly will help leave the skin “baby smooth”. Other actives such as niacinamide which will help to brighten your skin’s complexion and moisturiser are great additions to your routine.

“It’s all about keeping on top of it and taking that time for yourself. Self-care is a must and Eve on 21 is such a beautiful space to experience that,” Nadia says.

Situated in Ashford, the skincare clinic can provide a range of treatments like Hydration Facials, LED therapy, and medical grade chemical peels, all which require minimal downtime.
