In a peaceful pocket of McLaren Vale overlooking gum trees, vines and fire pits, sits Bec Hardy Wines – a wonderland filled with premium wines and delicious food. Its Candyland event this August 26th, which will be a Willy-Wonka inspired culinary adventure, is set to make it even more magical.
A golden ticket will give you access to Bec Hardy’s immersive journey, showcasing a fully-curated lunch menu and theatre-style experience.
Recently appointed Head Chef Connor Bishop, who has an immaculate reputation across the region working in several esteemed restaurants, has created a mouth-watering menu.
“This is a fun and unique event that hasn’t been seen on the Fleurieu before. With Connor’s history as a pastry chef, [a dessert degustation] has always been something that he’s wanted to explore,” Bec Hardy representative Eliza Naulty says.
On arrival you’ll start with a sparkling wine, before diving into both the savoury and sweet courses. The dishes are inspired by the well-known Chocolate room, Inventing Room and the infamous chocolates themselves.
The courses start with a selection of amuse-bouche, including parfait cornet and delicious Æbleskiver with blue swimmer crab.
It will be followed by a delightful and surprising collection of sweet treats. One of those is tempered chocolate which is inspired by the Chocolate Room – a magical place where everything is edible, including a chocolate river.
Every dish has an exciting and interactive twist. The degustation will finish off with two amazingly created plated desserts and a house-made petit fours. If a marshmallow swell miso fudge wrapped in an edible wrapper and lemon and white chocolate rocks are anything to go by, it will be a gobstopping feast.

The Kitchen at Bec Hardy, which is set in a converted winemaking shed where a large oak vat still adorns the corner, will be converted into a fantasy land boasting “little surprises around every corner”.
The produce is sourced from its own Tipsy Hill Estate garden and the broader Fleurieu region, which reflects the excitement around the Fleurieu Food festival. It’s a journey for the senses across the region for the month of August and Candyland will be a standout experience.
The festival showcases the breadth and depth of food and beverage producers in the region, and Bec Hardy is no exception.
