While this list could go on FOR DAYS, here’s a dreamy selection of the biggest and best chocolate experiences on offer – just in time for Easter.

Barossa Valley Chocolate Company

Located in the Barossa Valley region, just outside Tanunda, this ever-growing tourist attraction is surrounded by wonderful vineyards and received Bronze in the 2021 South Australian Tourism Awards for Best Tourist Attraction. Boasting over 250 responsibly sourced white, milk, dark and ruby (ooh la la) chocolate products, the Barossa Valley Chocolate Company is sure to be a hit with children and adults alike!  If you’re not a chocolate fan, there is an ice creamery serving freshly made gelato with 22 new flavours on offer. 

All of the Barossa Valley Chocolate Company’s products are made in the state-of-the-art chocolate kitchen by a team of chocolatiers, where you can also get a sneak peek at how the chocolates are created through their expansive viewing windows.

Barossa Valley Chocolate Company offer children’s birthday parties, where they can learn about chocolate, make their own creation to take home, play games and eat lunch! 

And for those wanting a slightly more adult experience, the Vineyard Road cellar door, also located at the Barossa Valley Chocolate Company, offers wine and chocolate pairings.

Melba’s Chocolates

Enjoy a scenic drive through the Adelaide Hills to visit the Melba’s Woodside Chocolate factory and view their extensive range. Melba’s Chocolates & Confectionery is a famous South Australian brand with amazing chocolate range including signature Giant Chocolate Specialities, Cow Pats and Sheep Nuts. Robern Menz & FruChocs

While Robern Menz may have started as a dried fruit factory 150 years ago, they’ve more recently become known for their amazing chocolate and confectionary, including the famous FruChoc which was first produced in 1948! Haigh’s Chocolates

Haigh’s is the oldest family-owned chocolate maker in Australia, and is synonymous with quality South Australian chocolate. Founded over 100 years ago, it’s still going strong today – with 22 retail stores across Adelaide, Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney.

You can even stop past the Visitor Centre on Greenhill Road, Parkside to see the chocolatiers hard at work. Here you are welcome to take a self-guided factory viewing tour to learn the history of Haigh’s and see first-hand look how they make our chocolates from cocoa beans sourced from plantations around the world.

Just Bliss

Just Bliss is a family-owned business that specialises in creating beautifully crafted chocolates with hand-painted patterns and colours. Based in Gawler Place off Rundle Mall, this boutique chocolatier specialises in gourmet chocolate truffles, chocolate gifts and personalised chocolates. Just check out their Dark Couture Chocolate Collection and try to stop your mouth from watering.

Koko Black

Koko Black arrived in Adelaide in 2014, setting up shop in Adelaide Arcade off Rundle Mall. There you can enjoy daily chocolate sampling, while their team can guide you through the chocolate journey. Four Winds Chocolate 

Four Winds Chocolate out at Willunga crafts chocolates, cakes and patisseries from their home base, set against the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula backdrop. Their family run shop is only open on Saturdays, so make life a little bit sweeter and stock up while you still can!

Bracegirdle’s House of Fine Chocolate 

Bracegirdle’s House of Fine Chocolate is one of Adelaide’s classic chocolate cafes, opening in 2005. They make a mean hot chocolate, incredible handcrafted chocolates, serve cakes and patisseries and offer breakfast and light lunch at some locations.

Adelaide Central Market favourites Providore have been delighting customers with their creations (& their Belgian chocolate fountain) for years. Fleurieu Chocolate Company

Located at the Vineyard Road Cellar Door at Langhorne Creek, Fleurieu Chocolate Company is the sister company of the popular Barossa Valley Chocolate Company. The sister companies have a sweet link via their Koala Chocolates with Franki the Fleurieu Koala, cousin of Benni the Barossa Koala. The idea behind the Fleurieu Chocolate Company is to give people in the south the opportunity to experience their award-winning chocolate.
