In a city filled with burger bars, one place is always elevating the creativity behind serving up tasty burgers. That place is Beefcakes and Shakes.
“Always wanting to do something that other people can’t copy,” Jamie Wimmer, the owner of Beefcakes and Shakes explains when asked about the inspiration behind his burger bar’s latest offering.
When two creative food geniuses collaborate, there is no telling what they will come up with. That is how Beefcakes and Burger’s collaboration with Enzo’s At Home came to fruition.
Jamie Wimmer is always on the search for new ideas. Whenever inspiration strikes, he runs it past his brain trust of friends and if the majority agree, he gives it a go.
“Life is about helping each other,” Jamie says, talking with great passion about how he is constantly wanting to innovate the offerings at the Grange Road institution.
Inspired by the quality and taste of what Enzo’s At Home offer, Jamie knew they had to work together. After a meeting of minds and a period of experimentation, the May special menu was born.
The results? Well, they are mouth-watering.
Standing out straight away is the lasagne burger. It all starts with two smashed beef patties then it is brought to another level with a slice of the famous Enzo’s lasagne. Not just leaving it there, provolone cheese, bechamel and rocket are added- all between a garlic-buttered potato bun.
Never neglecting the sides, this one is sealed with a kiss. An Italian Kiss. The Italian Kiss being a deep-fried Enzo’s beef ravioli served with a rich Napoletana sauce, ricotta and fresh parsley.
Infamous for their shakes, there was no way Beefcakes and Burgers would release a collaboration without a special shake, and this shake takes the cake.
“Have you ever tried Enzo’s tiramisu? If you have, you’d understand why I needed to make this shake,” Jamie says excitedly.
The shake itself is mocha, mascarpone and savoiardi biscuits, all blended into a thick shake. Never one to shy away from making a masterpiece, it is then topped with whipped cream, cocoa and more savoiardi biscuits.
Jamie Wimmer states that his collaboration with Enzo’s At Home this time around was all about trial and error. Seeing what they could create together.
What’s next? According to Jamie, this joint menu is just the beginner of the two businesses’ collaborative efforts.
“We have something more coming again soon. It will be bigger and better.”
