If you love beer and BBQ, there’s a festival you won’t want to miss this winter, and this year, it’s had a serious glow-up.
The Adelaide Beer & BBQ Festival is making a grand return on July 10th and 11th, taking over a brand new home at The Drive. After a decade at the Showground, the event is stepping into a new, bigger, bolder era that’s more accessible than ever.
This year’s lineup is absolutely stacked, with iconic Aussie provocateurs TISM leading the charge. TISM are known for their chaotic, genre-bending live shows, and will perform alongside US singer-songwriter Ben Kweller. They’ll be joined by art-rock heavyweights Tropical Fuck Storm, hardcore favourites SPEED, and indie legends Ratcat, who are making a long-awaited return to Adelaide.
Also on the bill are Tim Rogers, The Mavis’s, Kirin J Callinan, plus a mix of interstate acts and homegrown South Australian talent.
Alongside the music, food is, of course, front and centre. Barbecue legends will be bringing flavours from around the globe. Expect low-and-slow heavy hitters like Big Box BBQ and Carolina Smoke, alongside fire-cooked eats inspired by Jamaica, Thailand, Indonesia, Brazil and more.
There will also be a curated selection of Australia’s top brewers on show across the weekend, joined by wine, gin and plenty of ‘not beer’ options, so there’s something for everyone.
The festival will run across three sessions: a Friday night (18+), a family-friendly Saturday session and a Saturday night party to close things out.
Attendees can also expect the return of some of the festival’s most-loved quirky experiences, like hidden bars, unexpected pop-ups and a few surprises thrown in for good measure. There’s even talk of a “Secret Pickle Saloon,” a dumpster disco and brand-new additions like adult putt putt.
“We can’t wait to see what this little independent festival can look and taste like in its new home,” shared Beer & BBQ Festival founders Gareth Lewis and Aaron Sandow. “Not only is it more accessible from the city, it allows us more space to be creative and build the festival we want to present now. Beer & BBQ Festival has always been about supporting the brewers, the chefs and the artists and they need support more than ever, this grown up festival in the heart of the city means they can put their beers in the hands of more punters than ever before. And now we have a big shiny stage to play with!”
After wrapping up its original run in 2025, the team went back to the drawing board to reimagine what the next decade could look like, and the result is a more central, more creative, and more immersive event.
Tickets are already on sale, with returning fans able to snap up ‘Wayville prices’ in a nod to the festival’s roots. This is one you’ll want to add to your calendar!
