Hahndorf’s popular artisanal festival, “Handmade. Handcrafted. Handpicked.”, is set to see a myriad of new and returning events and experiences next month, from art and craft workshops to electric bike wine tours.
In an exciting development, Beerenberg is also launching a string of interactive cooking masterclasses in its newly renovated Grant’s Kitchen space.

Led by guest foodie and recipe creator, Chris Stephan, the intimate experiences of 20 people teach guests how to cook the perfect Lamb, Beef or Pork Roast, as well as the perfect Sunday seafood menu. All classes, of course, will show guests how they can incorporate Beerenberg products into their everyday cooking.
The lamb roast masterclass conveniently lands on Father’s Day, so bring your dad along and enjoy a class together! Local prosecco and a house-made appetiser will be served on arrival, as Chris and her right-hand cook, Jo, will take you through three-courses of incredible dishes and matching wines.
Learn how to cook Moroccan lamb served in crispy wonton cups, followed by lamb shoulder braised in Beerenberg caramelised onion, asparagus stems with creamy parmesan, chipotle hasselback sweet potatoes with feta, and coconut sago with mango curd.
Best part of all – you’ll be able to eat it all at the end! Not a bad way to celebrate Father’s Day at all.


On the following Sunday, Chris will be crafting the perfect beef fillet roast, accompanied with all your favourites, such as creamy peppercorn sauce, smokey bourbon and garlic grilled mushrooms, and roasted smashed potatoes.
In anticipation for the big feed, a vegetable curry puff and Bloody Mary shooter will be served to get you started. If that wasn’t enough, the experience will be finished off with a decadent sticky date and apple puddling – be sure to wear your stretchy pants for this one.
For the pescatarians out there, the Sunday seafood masterclass promises to tick all of your boxes. The experience starts with garfish and salmon rolls, followed by a lesson in how to prepare a chilli miso glazed salmon with pickled green strawberries. Finish the dish with potato salad and cucumber rolls, before finishing sweet with a rhubarb and almond cheesecake.

Finally, on Sunday 25 September, Chris will be concluding her masterclass series with her Sunday Pork experience. The day will be kicked off, as always, with a glass of prosecco, accompanied with some chilli chickpeas and caramelised onion soup with Gruyere toasts.
The main event will teach guests how to perfect the pork’s crispy skin, as well as how to make creamy apple mash, a bean and pea salad with Asian dressing, and a whole roasted cauliflower with mustard and capers.

Chris Stephan brings years of kitchen experience to Beerenberg’s cooking masterclasses, having worked professionally as a chef, caterer and manager within the food and hospitality arena. Not only is Chris a professional chef, but she is also a prolific recipe creator and food stylist who recently featured in Beerenberg’s Long Weekend Recipe Book.
The lamb, beef or pork masterclasses will serve as the perfect opportunity to learn from the best and pick Chris’ brain, as all classes will be highly interactive.
Beerenberg opened Grant’s Kitchen and launched its first cooking masterclass in July – the latter of which sold out in a matter of days. If you’re interested in one of the above classes, be sure to get your tickets quickly to avoid disappointment.
