Epic burger group Benny’s American Restaurant, have unveiled the highly-anticipated winner of their ‘Next Top Burger’ competition, where the restaurant’s customers have the chance to design a limited edition burger for the menu, with customers choosing the overall winner out of the three most delicious designs.
In the competition’s second year, customers were invited to submit their designs via Benny’s Instagram and Facebook pages, with the champion burger running from 17 August to 17 September, and receiving the star treatment with a professional foodie photoshoot of the winning design.
This year’s winner was the Nevada Golden Nugget Burger, designed by Jo Hocking, which guests will be able to order all month, feasting on a crispy chicken breast nugget-style patty, smothered in layers of Monterey Jack cheese, hot chips, fried pickles and ranch sauce, which is certainly not for the faint-hearted.
The enormous burger racked up an incredible number of votes in the competition final, alongside fellow finalists , with Adelaidean winner Jo Hocking winning a $100 Benny’s American gift voucher, as well as their burger in pride of place on the restaurant’s menu for a whole month, across their Morphett Vale, Glenelg, Hindley Street and Magill Road Stores.
Alongside the Nevada Golden Nugget burger was the ‘Your Hole-yness’ a Swiss cheese, sautéed mushrooms and beef patty burger with rosemary and garlic on a soft brioche bun, as well as the American classic-inspired ‘PB & J’ which included peanut butter and chilli jam, bacon, beef, cheddar and bbq sauce, with the optional addition of a banana in homage to Elvis Presley’s favourite sandwich.
2020 Next Top Burger winner, the Bigger Than Texas, was such a success with customers during its month-long run last year, that the team at Benny’s American Restaurant have made it a permanent menu item, and is now the best-selling big burger on the menu.
Benny’s American Glenelg store recently opened in July 2021, and has seen a huge response since flinging open their doors to the burger aficionado venue.
As well as slinging epic burgers, one of the venue’s most popular dishes are their range of Poutine, the mouth-watering Canadian combination of hot chips, cheese curds and brown gravy, which Benny’s take to the next level with the addition of deliciously smokey bacon bits.
