The Big Lunch will serve up a gourmet feast for 300 people between the market stalls to raise money for The Big Issue. The not-for-profit organisation is well known for providing work opportunities to vulnerable people through its fortnightly street magazine.

Now in its fourth year, The Big Lunch has been supported by well-known chefs including Simon Bryant and MasterChef’s Callum Hann, raising $65,000 to support The Big Issue’s work in SA.

Chefs from the Hilton Adelaide, led by executive chef Lloyd Cremer, will prepare this year’s lunch. SA food icon Maggie Beer, who will be interstate on the day of the event, is also getting behind The Big Lunch by providing a recipe for the main course. Diners will be seated at long tables running between the market stalls.

The Big Issue Acting National Manager Jeremy Urquhart urged the community to again get behind the popular event.

“The Big Issue has changed the lives of hundreds of vulnerable men and women in South Australia by giving them the opportunity to earn an income and reconnect with the community,” Mr Urquhart said. “This event will enable us to continue helping those in need.”

Tickets cost $140 per person or $1300 for a table of 10. Details: www.thebigissue.org.au
