Big Shots Cafe in Brighton is known for its fantastic food and coffee, and now it’s also gaining attention for its new Home Barista Course which owner Josh Anderson launched in July. The new course for coffee lovers, is held at the popular cafe, and aims to demystify the process of coffee making. Its goal? To allow participants to craft the perfect brew in the comfort of their homes. Josh introduced the initiative to enrich people’s coffee-making skills, including espresso extraction, milk frothing, and latte art.
The course also offers a comprehensive overview of various brewing methods, such as cold drip, pour over, French press, and Moka pots.
Josh said the first two courses had been extremely popular, driving him to announce multiple regular dates from September through the entire summer period. “The tricks I use professionally to get the perfect coffee are easy for people taking our courses to learn, and coffee lovers will walk away knowing how to nail their coffees at-home.
“I think once people realise how achievable this is in a 2-hour class, plus the fact that it’s great value, and you get to take home some Big Shots coffee beans to practice with at home, it’s getting more and more popular each time we run a course.”
Josh added, “It’s also a great course for people wanting to enter the hospitality industry.”
With an understanding of people’s current economic pressures, Josh shared, “As much as I’d love to welcome anyone into my cafe, I understand the reality that buying coffee from a cafe every day can be a bit of a luxury.” He argued that understanding basic coffee concepts could elevate the home coffee experience to match cafe quality without the cost.

Josh shared, “I really love working with other businesses on improving their coffee offering and meeting and training their staff to really nail it!”
