This spring, Adelaide is about to become the centre of all things pop culture, as Supanova Comic Con & Gaming returns to the Adelaide Showground from October 31st to November 2nd.
This year’s line-up is bigger, bolder, and better than ever, with cult icons, sci-fi legends, anime pioneers, and comic book creators all in attendance. And for Adelaide, some very exclusive guests will be appearing, bringing a whole other level to the three jam-packed days of fandom, fantasy, and fun.
Billie Piper, beloved for her award-winning role as Rose Tyler in Doctor Who, will make her Australian Supanova debut in Adelaide only. Fans can catch her on Saturday and Sunday, sharing stories from her time as the Doctor’s most iconic companion, as well as her acclaimed roles in Secret Diary of a Call Girl, Penny Dreadful, and her BAFTA-nominated series I Hate Suzie.
Adelaide will also host Diana Lee Inosanto, fresh from her role in Ahsoka. The martial artist, actress, and filmmaker has been impressing Star Wars fans with her performance, and her Supanova appearance will be an exclusive for South Aussies.
The magic doesn’t stop there either, as duo Holly Marie Combs and Brian Krause, better known to Charmed fans as Piper Halliwell and Leo Wyatt, are bringing some serious nostalgia to the stage. Superman & Lois stars Alex Garfin and Jordan Elsass will also be attending, reprising their on-screen brotherhood.
Anime lovers are also in for a treat with the appearance of Mari Shimizu, the original voice of Astro Boy. Mari, often nicknamed the ‘Mother of Voice Actors,’ will be making her first-ever trip to Australia, giving fans the chance to meet this legend of anime history.
For the comic collectors, Jim Krueger, the Eisner Award-winning former Creative Director of Marvel Comics, and multidisciplinary creative Jaime Jameson, known for her work on Guardians of the Galaxy, American Gods, and more, will also be heading to Supanova. They’ll be doing panels and signings, which are sure to be highlights for fans.
Beyond the superstar line-up, the event will have everything from a cosplay showcase, gaming zones, anime screenings, and a great atmosphere as thousands of fans come together to share their passions. Friday will also see the return of ‘Level Up’ powered by the Australian Computer Society (ACS), featuring keynote talks and sneak peeks before the weekend madness begins.
Since launching over two decades ago in 2002, Supanova has become Australia’s longest-running and largest pop culture expo, and the stop in Adelaide has always been one of the most anticipated on the calendar. This year’s mix of exclusives, international stars, and community energy is shaping up to be the biggest yet.
