The d’Arenberg tasting room, located on the top level of the Cube, is known as one of South Australia’s most premiere wine destinations. Panoramic views of McLaren Vale, the Willunga Hills and the Gulf St Vincent are a big seller, alongside highly-anticipated masterclasses, tours, and interactive experiences.
d’Arenberg loves to do things a little differently, and that motto is certainly reflected in its onsite activities. Currently, the tasting room is hosting a Dead Arm Distinction vertical semi-hosted experience, which honours the venue’s flagship wine.

A “vertical” tasting refers to an exploration of a wine over a range of vintages. Guests will be able to “taste the history” of The Dead Arm Shiraz in any they wish, sipping on 2008, 2013, 2015 and 2017 vintages.
Since its release in 1993, The Dead Arm Shiraz has received hundreds of accolades from wine critics and judges all over the world. This vertical masterclass offers the opportunity to taste the history of this outstanding wine.
If you’re a shiraz lover, this experience will give you and your friends the opportunity to discover why The Dead Arm Shiraz has been repeatedly identified as one of Australia’s most collected wines by the esteemed Langton’s Classification.
Renowned internationally for setting the benchmark for Australia’s finest wine, the Langton’s Classification showcases “the best of Australian winemaking practices, vineyard provenances and regional voices”.
The Dead Arm Distinction vertical experience includes insight on the current release vintage, as well as three treasures from the d’Arenberg cellars.

If you and your friends are looking for something a little more interactive, the d’Arenberg tasting room also hosts The Blending Bench – a hands on masterclass where you can play winemaker and take home a bottle of your own concoction.
While the d’Arenberg team does the hard work of picking, crushing, fermenting, foot treading, basket pressing and barrel aging the wine, the interactive experience enables guests to blend flavours in their own way.
Allow your creative juices to flow by learning how recognise distinctive flavours and textures, as well as understand how to balance, fullness, complexity, interest, and finesse.
The team will guide you in the blending process to create your own personal d’Arenberg wine from three barrel samples of The Dead Arm Shiraz.
As you explore the art form that is winemaking, your final product will be an expression of your own, individual palate.
Once satisfied, you will be able to name it (hopefully quirky and d’Arenberg-esque!) and take home a 750ml sample of your final wine blend.
