The Adelaide Strikers have enlisted the services of former South Australian and Australian Test great, Greg Blewett in a consultancy role as the Adelaide Strikers continue their preparations for BBL|05.

In this unique role, Blewett will assist in identifying potential international and domestic talent and will provide an insight into current international T20 trends and strategy.

Currently in the United Kingdom as fielding coach for the Australian Cricket Team, Blewett has previously held a range of roles with Australia A as well as the Cricket Australia National Performance Squad.

Earning his first baggy green in 1995, Blewett established himself as a consistent and assured all-round cricketer. He exploded on the international scene, scoring centuries in his first two Test matches before going on to play 46 Test matches and 32 ODIs.

Blewett played 124 first-class matches for South Australia and was a member of South Australia’s last Sheffield Shield winning side before retiring in 2006.

“Greg not only works with some of the best cricketers in the world, but is also able to see first-hand some of the best international cricketing talent and is exposed to a range of high performance structures,” said Adelaide Strikers General Manager, Bronwyn Klei.

“We feel that combined with his vast experience as a coach and player, Greg will offer a unique perspective and allow us to better plan our Strikers’ strategy in BBL|05 and for years to come.”

This role will also see Blewett reunite with his 1995-96 Sheffield Shield winning team mate and new Adelaide Strikers head coach, Jason Gillespie.
