Bloom Jar Flower Stalls adds colour to the Adelaide Hills

Bloom Jar Flower Stalls is a micro flower farm based in Strathalbyn, with roadside pop-ups in Strathalbyn and Hawthorndene.

I you’ve ever travelled through the Adelaide Hills and noticed a stunning white hutch, decked out in jars filled with an array of beautiful and colourful flowers for sale – these are the guys behind it.

Bloom Jar Flower Stalls is a micro flower farm based in Strathalbyn, approximately 45 minutes from the CBD.

Starting out in 2020 as a family roadside flower stall, their endearing pop-ups in Strathalbyn and Hawthorndene have captured the hearts of locals and passers by alike.

The roadside stall idea was inspired by their owner and grower, Deb’s green thumb and life long creative passion.

This has quickly grown to full-time work for both her and her daughter, Lucie, with both stalls expanding to meet the demand of their customers.

Their social media following has meant that the business has quite literally ‘bloomed’ extensively, with their Strathalbyn and Hawthorndene stalls stocked weekly from the months of September to May.

Deb is the brains behind all things growing and succession planting, ensuring Bloom Jars has a constant variety of plants flowering throughout their opening months.

Growing flowers at their family property in Strathalbyn, Deb and Lucie have worked together to create their passion into a fast-growing successful business.

Lucie, a former NSW florist, specialises in larger arrangements, events and dried flowers and looks after clients seeking flowers for weddings and functions, of which the business also offer.

Their Hawthorndene stall is also managed by Deb’s older daughter, Millie – making Bloom Jars quite the family affair!

Aiming to use home grown blooms as well as other locally sourced flowers to create unstructured, whimsical, relaxed creations, their recycled jars are donated from members of the community – something the locals have truly embraced.

This year is set to be another growth year for Bloom Jars, with a new space to work in on the property, and – the plan to build a website to share dahlia tubers with other flower loving Aussies.

So the next time you’re in the Adelaide Hills, make sure to keep an eye out for these gorgeous roadside flower stalls that are sure to bring colour into your day!
