Acted, Directed, Filmed and Edited all in a 24-hour period by BONJAH’S Glenn Mossop, the music video for their third single ‘Honey’ from their forthcoming album Beautiful Wild is a very honest insight into the lead singers creative processes including the bands songwriting.
“I guess it’s a bit of a self portrait of what I was feeling around the time the song was written. Feeling quite isolated from friends, my partner, my family, myself. I’d shut my emotions away from all these important people in my life and put myself in a place that felt like what the setting in the video clip looks like.”
Beautiful Wild was written across 18 months, borrowing largely from the theme of the ever-elusive subject of love – the highs, the lows and everything in between. Jan Skubiszewski (Way Of The Eagle, J.B.T, Cat Empire) took the band into the studio to taking them on a whole new creative path with their 11 new tracks. The final touches on the album were completed at studio 301 with the legendary Steve Smart.
‘Honey’ showcases BONJAH’S organic growth and new musical direction, with blues driven guitar solos and catchy songwriting, developed from the emotional and internal dialogue that so many musicians deal with throughout the writing process of an album.
“I developed a little bit of cabin fever internally so to speak, where you’ve only got your emotions and head to deal with…which makes you go a little Looney. So to manage it all, you create characters that can handle certain situations. Unfortunately in my case all three were careless. How can anyone help if you don’t say anything right? What do you do if you don’t know how to say it? Write a song about it….”
