Bonnie’s ‘Boxes of Love’

20 Year old Glenelg resident Bonnie Stewart, founder of ‘With Love & Lipstick’ a Non-Profit organization raising awareness for Victims of Domestic Violence has raised donations of over 350 Boxes of Love in just 4 months.

The campaign ‘With Love and Lipstick’ was launched on August 1. Bonnie made it her mission to donate more than 100 ‘Boxes of Love’, containing beauty items such as lip gloss, nail polish, magazines and body wash by November 25 – White Ribbon Day.

To achieve this, Bonnie asked for Adelaide locals to generously drop off beauty items at the Glenelg Police station. All of the items collected were donated to the Central Domestic Violence Service of who run 2 shelters in Adelaide.

“The numbers associated with violence towards women are huge – in the last financial year there were 960 Women and 645 Children sheltered in just two of the six shelters in Adelaide,” Bonnie said.

“To be able to donate over 100 Boxes of Love would be just a little gesture to these women.” Bonnie strongly believes that women and children have the right to live in a safe environment.

“I wanted to do something on a personal level and for me this was the way to go. I love bringing the community together and for me I love to volunteer.”

Bonnie’s campaign is already supported by the Premier of South Australia and numerous Ministers of Adelaide- Minister Jay Weatherill, Minister Robert Brokenshire, Minister Ian Hunter, Minister Gail Gago. High profile Loggie award winner Melissa Bergland (from TV series Winners and Losers), Mayor & Mayoress of Adelaide, Tony Waters CEO of Victims Support, Lucy Cornes, Mel Grigg (SAFM host Sydney), selected AFL players, selected SA Fire Fighters, 2012 London Olympians James McRae & Bryn Coudraye, SANFL, SA Police and Radio Adelaide- to name a few.
