Perfect for young adults who like a great story and a good scare.

Fans of the Netflix series will need no introduction to Lucy, Lockwood, and George.
Britain is in the grip of an epidemic of supernatural hauntings, shocking, violent and frequently lethal. This horrific set of affairs is laconically referred to as “The Problem.” Here’s the set-up: only teenagers can deal with the ghouls.
Jonathon Stroud has written a book for young adults which is scary, engaging and very funny.
Stroud’s powers of description are formidable; he loves playing with words and has a brilliant turn of phrase that it’s impossible not to relish.
Lucy is our first-person narrator. She is tough and feisty, with a dry sense of humour and a penchant for biting sarcasm. And she’s also a bit loony.
The novel is firmly targeted at young adults, but this old adult enjoyed it voraciously. Because of the strong horror themes, it may not be suitable for kids under 13, but you can make up your own mind about that.
Anyone can enjoy Lockwood & Co, so it’s no wonder this story is now a global Netflix sensation. I’d recommend it as a gift for any teen who loves reading.
