We all knew there was more to a cat than meets the eye. They’re always on the watch, observing the world around them with a keen eye but never letting on what’s going through their mysterious minds. Who would have thought it was because of super powers!

Not all cats have super powers, of course. That would be insane! But when kitten Tagg learns that he comes from a family of super powered cats, he can’t wait to discover what his power might be – Will he develop razor sharp claws? Super strength? The ability to leap long distances? The possibilities are endless as he learns more and more about other super powered cats.

Tagg also learns that not all super powered cats use their powers for good, and when super cats start disappearing, it’s up to Tagg and his best friend to find out what’s going on and save the heroes from a super villain.

With cute drawings by Becka Moor, Gwyneth Rees’ exciting novel for young readers aged 7-10 is a page-turning adventure filled with great characters and thrilling plot twists. The imaginative world of cats features a concert by super popular cat band One Purr, which is the turning point for the action. There’s plenty of dilemmas for the central characters to face, with Tagg’s own naivety being a sound storytelling device to introduce the reader into this world as he discovers it himself.

Super Cats is a fun read that is the first in a series of adventure books for young readers and one that is sure to encourage them to read more.
