Stay single until you meet someone who wants to build a future with you. Date until you find your ideal mate.

This book is designed for all the cisgender single ladies! If you are young or just starting fresh into the dating world, then you will appreciate all aspects of this book. If, on the other hand, you are older or wiser, know your own self-worth, can enjoy own company, and have been in the dating game a while, you will still enjoy this book. Whilst her tokens of wisdom may be stuff you already know, Tinx will remind you to stop doubting yourself and remain optimistic.

In fact, this is how the book starts. In Chapter One, Tinx writes about changing your scarcity mindset; there are plenty of good men out there. A tool to help you see this is to write down all the people who you have ever had a crush on or, of course, to get out there and look for yourself. After all, dating without expectations, if you are not compromising who you are, could possibly lead to something real. Tinx shares with the reader all the inner growth she learned from her own personal love life, and how to shift your thoughts. For example, rather than thinking “rejection hurts,” shift your mindset to see rejection as redirection.

I have not ever listened to her podcast; however, I imagine it would be as funny as her book. Her writing style is conversational and witty. Written with a spoken quality, it feels like she is talking to you the entire time.

The book is divided into three parts, and I feel that parts one and two would be relevant for all singles, new or seasoned. Part one is about dating, crushing, texting, first dates, and hooking up. Part two is about coupling up, breaking up, and getting over it. Even if you are not learning anything new, it is reassuring to know your dating encounters are normal. Part three is for the ladies that feel lost, as it focuses on self-discovery and knowing your own worth.

The Shift is a great pick-me-up for boosting one’s spirits before the festive season or as a thoughtful Christmas gift for a friend in need. Tinx is a lifestyle creator, advice expert, and podcast host and considered one of Forbes’ Top Creators of 2022.
