Today, nearly a month after terrible bushfires broke out across our beautiful State, communities are reeling from the loss and destruction caused by the fires.
In South Australia we’ve been heartbroken by the devastation that the fires in the Adelaide Hills and Kangaroo Island have caused.
People have lost their loved ones, livelihoods, home, and properties.
The tragic loss of wildlife, habitats and impact on our natural attractions has been felt across the state and country as we now look towards how we can help these communities recover and rebuild.
As a State, we’ve also seen the amazing way everyone has come together to support our bushfire-impacted regions and businesses, and today, a new campaign has launched to help even further. #BookThemOut
While donations are a great way to help, many parts of the Adelaide Hills and Kangaroo Island remain beautifully unaffected and are continuing to operate and welcome visitors.
By continuing to visit and spend your money in these regions, you are helping the long-term strategy to recover and rebuild the communities and wildlife affected.
#BookThemOut is an initiative by the South Australian Tourism Commission, to help raise awareness for Kangaroo Island and Adelaide Hills and help them rebuild by Booking Them Out, buying their products and continuing to support their communities.
Working in partnership with industry, the campaign is designed to encourage people locally, as well as those interstate, to travel (‘book out’) the Adelaide Hills and Kangaroo Island for a holiday, short stay or experience – an integral part of the long-term recovery strategy.
Tourism plays such a vital role in helping these beautiful regions thrive and rebuild, so please support by planning a weekend in the Hills or KI, shopping for products from the region, and booking them out!
