Have you left your Valentine’s Day plans to the last minute? (And we do mean last minute, it’s today guys!) Never fear because we’re here to save you! The Botanic Gardens across Adelaide, that means Adelaide, Mt Lofty, and Wittunga, are all going to stay open until 8pm tonight, to give you the rare chance to enjoy the garden at twilight and possibly make up for a forgotten bunch of flowers.
The Adelaide gardens are pulling out all the stops with a pop-up garden bar and picnic hampers available for pre-purchase.
The pop-up bar will be set up on the Schomburgk Pavillion, meaning you don’t have to lug in your esky to keep your bevvos chilled tonight, just pull up a spot and head to the bar for your twilight toast.
Gourmet picnic hampers for two can be pre-purchased for Adelaide Botanic Garden by The Gardens, Cafe and Kiosk (phone 8223 3526) and you can take your pick of countless secluded spots around the Gardens to throw down your picnic rug and tuck into a moreish spread as the sun sets.
If you’re only just reading this and it’s 4pm, and you’ve completely forgotten about today it’s okay. You probably can’t pre-order a picnic basket, but you can assemble your own. We’d suggest a baguette, 1 hard and 1 soft cheese, some strawberries, and a sampling of deli meats. We’re pretty sure your local supermarket can help you out there, just don’t forget the picnic rug!
Or, you can step it up a notch, with a romantic dinner at the Botanic Gardens Restaurant. Tonight they’ll be putting on an eight-course degustation with optional matching wines (take the option).
Those looking to kick on and make a night of it can book tickets to Academy Award-nominated The Greatest Showman (starring Hugh Jackman), which kicks off at Moonlight Cinema in Botanic Park at 8:30pm.
