South Australian fine food wholesaler and retailer, Bottega Rotolo, will celebrate its 20th year since its opening this July.

Originating from a famous South Australian foodie family, a passion for food runs in the blood of the Rotolo family.

Bottega Rotolo’s first retail store opened in July 1995 on Osmond Tce at Norwood, with a focus on supplying the finest European food and wine to the public and to top restaurants, hotels and cafes.

Over the past 20 years, Bottega Rotolo has grown from strength to strength. The company now employs more than 50 people and serves South Australia’s best restaurants.

Its import operation has grown exponentially – with fresh cheese being flown in from France, Spain and Italy via climate-controlled air freight every three weeks. Founder Rosalie Rotolo-Hassan scours Europe and Australia to bring her customers and clients the best gourmet and premium hand-crafted products not sold anywhere else in Australia. Her love and passion for food is the driving force behind the business – setting a benchmark for the standard of the products Bottega Rotolo represents.

At its warehouse in Mile End, 20,000 serves of cheese and accompaniments leave its doors on a weekly basis, bound for cities and airports across Australia, to be served on board Qantas Airways First, Business and Economy class domestic flights.

Late in 2013, Bottega Rotolo opened its second retail outlet store on King William Rd at Hyde Park. The presence in Hyde Park was the perfect location for another Bottega Rotolo outlet, providing eastern residents with premium gourmet products and great customer service.

Bottega Rotolo has expanded its focus to include South Australian and Australian gourmet products, including locally-produced wines, butter, cheeses, olives oils and olives.

“It is with great satisfaction and achievement that we’ve reached our 20th anniversary,” says founder, Rosalie Rotolo-Hassan.

“I’m really proud of we have achieved, which is representing great producers, bringing new and fantastic products to Australia, developing a strong customer following, and creating two successful retail outlets.”

Not only does Bottega Rotolo supply gourmet ingredients, it is passionate about educating and teaching the public on how to use them. Rosalie knows her industry – and is keen to pass her knowledge and passion onto others through the establishment of her ever popular cooking classes, product demonstrations and cheese and wine events.

“My passion for food comes from my family and from growing up in the Central Markets, where my parents had a shop. Food is a central part of Italian families and as much as I have a passion for food, I’ve also developed the same passion for business,” says Ms Rotolo-Hassan.

“I also get a real kick out of sharing my passion for food with our customers. I love watching the smiles on their faces as they learn about great products and ways to use them.”

Bottega Rotolo is committed to continuing the import and distribution of the world’s best food and wine, whilst also bringing innovative new brands and products to the Australian market.

“It is my vision that Bottega Rotolo will continue on its great path of success, bringing great new products and experiences to our customers; expanding our retail stores; and continuing our strong relationships with our European and Australian suppliers,” she says.

Bottega Rotolo is all about the good things in life! The diversity of its products is underpinned by one philosophy…the celebration of good food and wine!
