Morialta Secondary College has officially opened their doors to their brand new $88.4m facility, ready to inspire the next generation of learning.
Located on the former grounds of Norwood Morialta High School’s middle campus, this state-of-the-art institution stands as a beacon of modernity and progress, meeting the burgeoning demand for quality education in the region.
The college’s journey began in February 2022, with the commencement of construction on the ageing site. Soon, Four contemporary, multi-level learning facilities began to take shape and began to reflect the vision for a dynamic educational environment.
“All South Australian students deserve access to a high-quality education – and education infrastructure plays an important role in that,” Minister for Education, Training and Skills Blair Boyer said.
“We know that there is projected growth in the eastern suburbs, and we have to be prepared for that, which is why this investment is vital.
“Students attending Morialta Secondary College will receive a first-class education and I’m pleased the facilities reflect that.“
With an initial intake of 168 Year 7 students in 2023, Morialta Secondary College has swiftly become a bustling hub of learning, now accommodating 373 students across Year 7 and 8 in 2024.
However, this is just the beginning of an exciting journey as the school plans to expand its cohort annually, eventually catering to a total of 1200 students spanning from Year 7 to 12 by 2028.
One of the defining features of Morialta Secondary College is its seamless integration of indoor and outdoor spaces. A vibrant village green acts as a nexus, facilitating easy transitions between classrooms and providing students with a welcoming environment to engage in both formal study and casual recreation. Here, wide benches and expansive courtyards invite students to unwind and socialise during breaks.
“As a new school, we are building a community together where every student feels that they belong, can achieve their potential, and become inspired, active citizens,” Morialta Secondary College Principal Roley Coulter said.

“When we welcomed our inaugural class of Year 7 students in 2023, they appreciated the opportunity to settle in as the only cohort on site and took full advantage of the resources included the VR suite, science labs and library.
“As our school grows in the years to come, we want to remain community minded and student led as we continue to support all of our students to achieve their own success.”
Moreover, the school’s architectural prowess is evident in its array of facilities designed to enrich students’ educational experience. From a 150-seat performing arts center to a fully-equipped gymnasium, sports ovals, and courts, Morialta Secondary College offers a diverse range of opportunities for students to explore their passions and talents. The inclusion of a library, gallery, and café further enhances the holistic learning experience, encouraging students to immerse themselves in a world of knowledge and creativity.
Beyond its physical infrastructure, Morialta Secondary College also defines its identity through its catchment area, encompassing parts of Tranmere, Magill, Woodforde, Teringie, Montacute, Hectorville, and Rostrevor. This expansive zone reflects the school’s commitment to serving a diverse community and fostering inclusivity and accessibility in education.
