Every now and then, a new venue opens that pushes the boundaries and a new bar in North Adelaide is doing just that. Teetering the line between classic combinations and experimental blends, Fú Cocktail & Wine Bar follows just one main rule: quality ingredients always.
Opening earlier this month on Melbourne Street, you’ll find many of the fermented and pickled ingredients used in your cocktail or snack of choice have been produced in-house offering different flavour profiles you may not have experienced ever before, in a bid to bring a bit of fun and excitement into your glass.
The dark, moody interior of Fú gives it the vibe of a classic underground speakeasy and instils a sense of calm, allowing you to let go and trust that you will be duly looked after throughout your experience.
As a former sommelier at some of Adelaide’s most notable establishments, co-owner, Geoffrey Hunt, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table in his newest venture with Fú and promises to only serve drinks and meals that he’s proud of.
That being said, Geoffrey understands the importance of the customer and isn’t afraid to mix up some unusual drinks at your request.
For the winos among us, of which I’m sure there are many, Fú’s long and carefully selected wine list is bound to please with Geoffrey and his partner, Eva Yu, constantly updating the selection. Can’t choose? Rumour has it, if you kindly ask the pair what their drop of choice is at the moment, they just might share their secret stash with you.
At its core, Fú is a bar with its main focus on high-quality liquor, but what good is a cocktail without a little something on the side? Fitting with the theme, the bar’s snack-style menu is nothing short of top-notch. Asian flavours are the star here with dishes like shrimp noodles and flaky pancakes with Peking Duck sauce, designed to pair perfectly with the beverage selection.
Fú joins a host of budding establishments on Melbourne Street, which is quickly becoming a hot spot in the inner city.
Fú Cocktail & Wine Bar is located at 129 Melbourne Street, North Adelaide.
