RSPCA op shops in need of winter clothing

Shoppers will not only bag themselves a bargain on pre-loved clothes, books and homewares, but donate to the thousands of dogs helped across the state every year.

Vintage-lovers and thrifty shoppers unite: a new beachside op shop has arrived on the iconic Jetty Road.

Shoppers can head to Glenelg to visit RSPCA’s new op shop, which will act an en emporium of pre-loved finds, from clothes to shoes and books to homewares, with the shop currently undergoing an exciting new fit-out ahead of the big day.

The new Glenelg store comes at an exciting time for the beachside precinct, which is undergoing a $3.6 million upgrade to make the area more pedestrian-friendly.

Book-lovers especially will love the store’s opening offer, with the shop giving away a third book for free should you find two reads in store that you can’t wait to get on your shelf at home.

For those interested in a full day of shopping antics, RSPA even run dedicated op shop bus tours, where you can hop on and off at four of their stores, with 20% discount applied to all purchases and lunch provided, with tickets setting bargain-hunters back $20pp. The first bus tour to incorporate the Glenelg store will leave on 20 August.

RSPCA’s SA spokesperson Carolyn Jones was delighted to announce the opening of an RSPCA store in such an iconic Adelaide area, and the urgent demand for winter stock after an influx of COVID-induced summer stock donations.

“Many people used that time during last year’s winter to clear their wardrobes of mainly unwanted summer clothes, so when we reopened to donations that is what we received” she says.

“We would love it if people went though their wardrobes and sent any quality winter clothing our way that they’re no longer wearing.”

As well as nabbing yourself an environmentally-friendly bargain, shopping at the op shop will donate much-needed dollars to more than 8000 vulnerable animals helped by the RSPCA across the state each year.

Donations to any of RSPCA’s stores can be made to any of their nine stores located in the city on Rundle Street, as well as Norwood, Rigdehaven, Sefton Park, Semaphore, Blackwood, Brighton, Marden and the superstore at Kidman Park.

For anyone looking for a way to give back to RSPCA’s incredible cause, the new Glenelg store are also accepting interest from new volunteers with registration forms available here.

You can find the new op shop at 150 Jetty Road, Glenelg.
