Popular Hills venue The Bridgewater Inn has announced the approval of a $1.8million development after a lengthy application and approval process by the Adelaide Hills Council.

Celebrating the council approval in classic pub fashion the team at the Bridgewater Inn are offering customers a free drink if they mention the phrase “development approved” during their bar order.

The build is expected to go ahead in May 2022 so the beer garden can stay open for the hectic spring and summer season where hordes of loyal patrons flock to the venue for their picturesque riverside beer garden and menu of pub classics, including dedicated schnitzel nights.

As one of the most historic hotels in the Adelaide Hills, the Bridgewater Inn’s expansion is set to draw even more visitors out to the beautiful Hills region and expand the 179-year old venue’s offerings, updating the facilities on offer to pub guests.

The renovations will see changes made to the dining room, kitchen, the addition of new decking areas outside for additional seating and a brand new veranda to cover the existing outdoor garden area.

Alterations will be made to the inside of the venue to include floor to ceiling glass panels that will optimise the picturesque vistas the Bridgewater Inn offers of neighbouring Cox Creek, which currently can’t be seen from inside the venue.

Rather than expanding the Inn’s capacity, which will remain at 700 people post-renovation, the changes to the building are designed to give customers more seating options, particularly through the busy beer garden months of summer.

The development is just the latest announcement in changes for the venue which has recently appointed a new Head Chef, Stephen Russell, who has launched an extensive menu to include more offerings for the pub’s plant-based and vegan customers.

Schnitzel lovers have long been making their parmi pilgrimage to The Bridgewater Inn on Wednesdays, when the venue hosts a whole day dedicated to the pub favourite. Vegans will now be able to join the hordes of hungry guests and chow down on a plant-based schnitzel for $15, with a $4 Vegan parmi topping.

Eager to provide the ultimate pub experience for guests with a range of dietary requirements, a number of gluten-free, vegetarian and keto-friendly options will also be available.
