It’s taken nine months, but if the overwhelming positive feedback from patrons who visited The Bridgewater Inn over the long weekend is anything to go by, it was well and truly worth the wait.
The historic Adelaide Hills pub has undergone an extensive backyard blitz makeover, and while the bones of this beloved watering hole remain, the fabulous new outback beer garden, balcony and function pavilion have injected new life into the venue, blending heritage charm with a fresh, modern aesthetic.
Marketing Manager and co-owner Tracey Lee said the entire team couldn’t be happier.

“For the regulars who’ve been coming here for years, we’ve kept everything they love, just made it better. The soul of The Bridgewater Inn is still very much intact, but the upgrades make it an even more inviting spot to catch up with mates, enjoy a long lunch, or simply soak up the relaxed Adelaide Hills vibe,” added Tracey.
“The new all-weather pavilion is the hero and was put through its paces on the sweltering hot weekend, providing much-needed sun cover with our new insulated roof whilst still allowing the outside feeling and coolness of Cox Creek to be a feature.”
“It’s really added so much flexibility and opportunity for us at the Inn. We have built-in stone gas fireplaces and outdoor blinds so the space can be used all year round for dining and functions.”

It’s brilliant to see that the Inn has installed a lift and built new bathroom facilities, making the venue more accessible and connecting the upstairs and downstairs areas of the pub and restaurant.
Rest assured, the venue is still family and dog-friendly too. Located adjacent to the Heysen Trail, this dog-friendly beer garden is a popular resting spot for walkers.

“We’re a nature’s playground for families, with children being able to play outside and enjoy the wonders of our creek setting,” said Tracey.
“We love it when families let us know that they packed all the devices and, for the first time dining out, they stayed in the bag as children made friends and felt encouraged to explore.”
The new space also features a stage for live music programmed every Saturday and Sunday afternoon and will soon showcase DJs on weekend nights.
(Note: We’ve also been told that even ‘Max the friendly ghost’ at the Inn has given his approval.)
