Bright Future for Christmas Pageant

The ‘Credit Union Christmas Pageant’ will remain just that, as a five year extension to the naming rights sponsorship has been announced.

Tourism Minister John Rau congratulated the credit unions on their longstanding support for the pageant – the largest parade of its kind in the world.

“The credit unions celebrated 15 years as naming rights sponsor in 2010, and they have invested $4.65 million so far in this wonderful family event,” Mr Rau said.

“Their support will ensure the continued success and growth of the parade. The new arrangement means the pageant will have the stability of the same naming rights sponsor for at least 20 years.”

Over the next five years, four leading South Australian credit unions – Australian Central Savings & Loans, Community CPS Australia, Credit Union SA and Police Credit Union – will invest about $2.5 million in the pageant, as well as committing time, staff and resources to the event.

This commitment includes the resources of about 1000 staff on pageant day, 14 staff who are involved in the planning, coordination and marketing of the event throughout the year, and eight staff who, in their role as the “Pageant Royal Family‟, visit schools and special needs centres.

Peter Evers, Chair of the Credit Union Pageant Company, said the credit unions believe the event is a unique opportunity to give back to the community that supports them.

“Sponsoring this event is the perfect fit for the credit unions and it is so much more than just handing over a cheque and sitting back,” he said.

“We‟ve committed not only significant funding but also vast time, staff and resources so that together with the Government of South Australia we can make the magic happen.”

The Credit Union Christmas Pageant is owned and managed by the South Australian Tourism Commission on behalf of the South Australian Government.

The 2011 Credit Union Christmas Pageant will be held on Saturday 12 November 2011. For more information, visit www.cupageant.com.au
