Bright new Vietnamese street kitchen Nom Nom by Llaw launches in Bowden

Nom Nom has opened in Bowden, serving vibrant Vietnamese street food with bold flavours, a family feel, and a cheeky smile.

There’s a new reason to smile in Bowden with the arrival of Nom Nom by Llaw. A vibrant Vietnamese street food kitchen serving up family flavours, cheeky vibes and feel-good food.

Launching on Thursday 27 June, Nom Nom is the latest addition to the Llaw family of venues. It joins favourites like Tweety Bird Café, Lipson Café and L.Law Boutique. It’s also their first step into Vietnamese cuisine, and the locals and visitors to Plant 4 are already excited.

Boey, who’s heading up the kitchen, says the idea came from a shared love of Vietnamese food.

“We eat Vietnamese every Monday with our team and our family. It’s something that brings us all together,” she said.

“Nom Nom is all about bringing fresh, casual Southeast Asian street food to Bowden. simple, tasty, no fuss. Think Banh Mi, Pho, rice bowls, quick, affordable, but done properly.”

“It’s inspired by those little hidden gems you’d find in Vietnam or Thailand — where it’s quick, the flavours hit you, and you just want to come back.”

The concept followed a one-off pop-up next door at Plant 3 in 2024.

“We did a little bánh mì stand last year and it went really well. That’s when we started thinking about doing something bigger.”

This time it’s a permanent kitchen with a tight menu of favourites.

“That beef rib is the rock star. It’s something we’ve always loved, and now we’re excited to share it with everyone.”

The menu reflects the flavours the team know well. Many of the staff are Vietnamese and contribute their traditional recipes and food favourites.

“Even though my background is Malaysian, Vietnamese food has always been part of our weekly life,” Boey said.

When asked about the name, Boey smiled.

“When you’re really enjoying your food, you go nom nom,” she laughed.

“It’s cheeky, it’s happy, and that’s what we want this place to be.”

Inside, it’s bright and bold. Warm reds and yellows set the tone, with plenty of light and a relaxed vibe. It’s perfect for a quick lunch or a casual dinner.

The space feels approachable. Families can gather, friends can catch up, and locals can drop in for their daily fix.

“Bowden has this cool, growing community vibe, and it’s full of young people, families, creatives.”

However, we felt like it was missing that casual, proper Southeast Asian spot where you can grab something quick, and not compromise on flavour.”

“Food should make you feel good. That’s what we believe in.”

Nom Nom will open six days a week, closed Mondays. Doors open at 10am, with a short break in the afternoon. Dinner service begins again from 5.30pm.
