Brighton Winter Solstice street party returns with fire pits, food trucks, and free fun this Saturday

The event celebrates the winter season with festive lighting, cosy fire pits, live music, family activities and local traders joining in on the fun.

Brighton is set to light up this Saturday 21 June with the return of the much-loved Brighton Winter Solstice, a free street party along Jetty Road that transforms the precinct into a magical winter wonderland. Running from 4pm to 9:30pm, this annual event celebrates the winter season with festive lighting, cosy fire pits, live music, family activities and local traders joining in on the fun.

With the entire street fully licensed for the occasion, attendees can roam Jetty Road with a mulled wine or craft beer in hand, sampling delicious eats from food trucks and long-time local favourites who’ll be extending their trading hours and bringing their offerings out onto the street. Retailers will also be open later, creating a lively night market atmosphere.

There’s plenty for the whole family to enjoy, with a dedicated Kids’ Zone near the eastern entry at Elm Street offering giant outdoor games, a ‘decorate your own winter solstice postcard’ activity thanks to Brighton Library, and a giant community colouring-in wall featuring iconic Brighton imagery. DJ Tania Smith will be running a free all-ages silent disco, making it easy to dance your way through the longest night of the year.

Two live music stages will bring the street to life, with the main stage set at the Gurrs Road and Jetty Road intersection hosting performances from Elijah Schueler Music (4:30pm–5:30pm), The Coffee and Groove Collective (6pm–7pm), and high-energy Latin ensemble SuperLatin (7:30pm–9:15pm). Meanwhile, the Esplanade stage will feature Sam Brittain from 6pm to 9pm, adding a coastal soundtrack to the twilight atmosphere.

The Brighton Winter Solstice offers a warm and welcoming escape from the winter chill, with plenty of sheltered spaces, heaters, and fire pits dotted along the precinct to keep the good vibes glowing. Whether you’re rugging up with friends for drinks and live music, enjoying dinner and dessert from food trucks, or treating the kids to a fun night out, this is a community celebration that captures the spirit of the season.

Entry is free.
