A beloved coastal cafe and wine spot is stepping into an exciting new era with a fresh look, a brand-new kitchen, and a menu that takes things well beyond brunch. After nine years as a local favourite for coffee and breakfast, the Jetty Road venue has undergone a major transformation complete with a new head chef, an expanded dining menu, and a new liquor licence that lets guests take home bottles of their own Nest Wines.
“We’ve been here for nine years next month, we started in 2016,” said Tom Rodger from The Seller Door team. “We’ve always been a go-to place for great coffee and light food. But just in the last few months, we’ve done a big refurbishment. We put in a new commercial kitchen and a grease trap, and we’ve got a new team led by our head chef who’s come in and designed a brand-new menu. It’s really exciting for us, kind of phase two of what we’ve always dreamed of.”

The new and improved Seller Door will lean further into becoming an all-day dining spot with a focus fantastic wines.
“We’ve always had a really strong focus on wine, we come from a winemaking family in McLaren Vale. We’ve also just got a new liquor licence down here that’s a bit unique, it’s called a ‘producer’s licence’. It means we can sell our wines for people to enjoy here by the glass or bottle, alongside one of our lunch or dinner dishes. But we can also sell our own Nest Wines for takeaway because they’re produced by us. So it’s a really special opportunity that lets us showcase our original passion and where we’ve come from.”

With the new commercial kitchen it means that while they’ve always offered breakfast and brunch, they can now start planning some really fun things like winemaker nights, ticketed events, and experiences that revolve around great food and great wine.
Part of that great food and wine you’ll be able to find on their day-to-day menu. Tom says one of the highlights for breakfast is something they call the ‘Egg Boss’. “It’s a soft-scrambled egg with chives on a brioche bun with bacon, cheese, caramelised onion, chipotle sauce and crispy hash browns.” They’ve also got whipped ricotta brioche which is a sweet staple, plus a crispy fried chicken with hot honey sauce that’s perfect for when you’re craving some naughty food and an afternoon glass of wine. These are all favourites of the team.
“We’ve also added things we’ve never done before, like fish and chips and seafood, which tap into a new market for us. And of course, our acai bowl offerings are back and better than ever. There’s a lot going on, lots of change, all of it really exciting for us,” says Tom.

As for the wines Tom will always recommend their Reserve Shiraz. “It’s the best without a doubt. That’s what we’re most known for, the 2022 McLaren Vale Nest Reserve Shiraz. It’s fantastic by the glass or bottle, and it pairs beautifully with a lot of our lunch dishes.”
These drinks and dishes can all be enjoyed in their light and airy renovated venue. “We’ve really focused on bringing light into the space. We’re lucky to be in a historic building on Jetty Road with these beautiful curved windows from the early 1900s. We’ve leaned into that charm, expanded the seating with built-in spaces, increased our capacity inside, and refreshed our courtyard ‘secret garden’.”

With its relaxed seaside setting, bright new look and expanded menu celebrating great South Australian wine and produce, The Seller Door’s next chapter feels like the natural evolution of a local favourite, still the perfect Jetty Road stop, just even better than before.
