In a dead letter mail room, a highly strung man tends to his boxes, keeping them dusted and ordered and safe, just like his life. Locked away from the world in his isolated haven, he’s faced with the prospect of change when an excitable adventuress arrives unexpectedly.

Through acrobatics and clowning the duo eventually become friends and set off on escapades imagined from a collection of other people’s postcards. It’s the discovery of a small red box however, that challenges their fears and ultimately provides them with the tools they need to finally write their own adventures.

There is minimal dialogue in this delightful two-hand family show, with both adorable characters needing only their expressive faces to impart their thoughts and motives. Ample comedy and stacks of creative storytelling take the adventurers to Paris, Africa and even underwater.

The action appeals to both adults and children. The basic, overarching plot makes the silent storytelling easy for kids to follow, while the actor’s imaginations flesh it out into something far more substantial and exciting. Both Luke O’Connor and Christy Flaws are a joy to watch, having created the show with associate Ailsa Wild (who doesn’t appear).

There are strong messages about adapting to change, being yourself and being brave, which are affirmative messages both children and adults can sometimes learn from.
