Building starts on stunning new Kangaroo Island golf course and accommodation

This spectacular scenery, combined with the quality of the course, is expected to make it one of the most desirable golf courses in Australia.

Work has begun on the new Cliffs golf project at Kangaroo Island, expected to be a huge tourist drawcard.

The site is situated near American River and Pelican Lagoon on the South side of the island providing breathtaking views across the cliffs and water.

This spectacular scenery, combined with the quality of the course, is expected to make it one of the most desirable golf courses in Australia.

The work commencing has been years in the making with a lot of planning meetings needed to ensure the logistics of the build could be outlined.

Of course, last year was about as tough as they come for KI with the devastating bushfires a year ago and then of course the tourism downturn experienced as a result of Covid.

With all those factors, this is sure to be a welcome boost for the tourism industry as the Cliffs are much more than just a golf course.

The project will include a luxury clubhouse/lodge and a hotel so golfers won’t be the only ones able to enjoy the magnificent scenery of the Islands stunning South Coast.

The course is designed by renowned golf course designer Darius Oliver- he also designed the Cape Wickham Links course on King Island in Tasmania which according to Golf Australia currently sits at a lofty 2nd on the best golf courses in Australia.

It will be a little while before keen golfers will be able to play the course but when it opens it is sure to bring a host of players from around the country and perhaps even the world.
