It’s a working farm located in the heart of South Australia’s popular Clare Valley surrounded by wineries and beautiful countryside.
Enjoy heritage-listed accommodation with old-world charm and modern facilities. Established in 1841, Bungaree offers an authentic experience along with experiences where guests are welcomed to follow the footsteps of those in the past through historic station tours.
There’s a range of accommodation across the property to stay in accommodating from 2 to 25 people – stay in the stallion box, grooms’ quarters, lodge, council chambers, manager’s house or men’s kitchen.
All have beautiful sandstone colonial architecture and modern conveniences and amenities. There’s also the Shearers Quarters where guests are welcome to camp for a more rustic experience.
Located in the peaceful countryside with accommodating hosts, guests are welcomed back in time to live life in the past. There’s experiences such as self-guided tours of the historic station complex, animal interactions, scenic walking trails and 4WD tours of the modern farming enterprise.
As well as this, guests are welcomed to enjoy the swimming pool, heat up a bonfire, and pop in the farm shop for a morning coffee and peruse local produce.
Ancestors George C Hawker and his brothers, James and Charles, selected Bungaree Station as the site for their “head station” where Bungaree soon resembled a small village with its own stores, and over 50 staff and their families taking home there.
The space has evolved over time with new technologies, and each generation has left their mark on the iconic property.
It has been well maintained and to this day remains the home of the 4th, 5th and 6th generations of the Hawker family.
The Bungaree house also offers venue hire, making it perfect for weddings and other events through the enchanting fit out.
