But First Coffee… Glam Goes Inside An Adelaide Artisan Coffee Roasting Business

Coffee is even better when it is sourced, roasted and brewed by a hard working, local family right here on our doorstep…

Coffee. It is a requirement in the morning for most. Basically we are animals until we have had our morning coffee and then we switch to our normal and coherent selves (surely that isn’t just us in the Glam office?).

A little slice of Italy in Adelaide.

This week our resident interior styling genius/shopping tours extraordinaire/homewares addict, Sarah Shanahan mixes it up with everyone’s favourite must have drink. Coffee (did we not make that obvious)…

It’s no secret that I love, and I mean love, coffee! When I had the chance recently to go behind the scenes of a wonderful local artisan coffee roasting business, I jumped at it!!

Tucked away in a surprisingly busy little street in Glynde, Euro Food and Beverage is basically coffee heaven for coffee lovers like myself.

All of the coffee...

All of the coffee…

With gorgeous hessian bags filled with coffee (that’s the interiors addict in me coming out to play) from all over the world, it was hard to take it all in! The smell as you walk through the doors… Well it can only be described as like dunking your head into a giant cup of liquid gold coffee. Amazing to say the least. Its clean and stylish decor stood out to me, plus the fact that it was full of its regular customers, who obviously love their coffee and expect only the best.

The beautiful

The beautiful roasting machine.

Pas and his wife Lee started the business four years ago after running an artisan bakery for 12 years. The shop is filled with food from Europe (hence the name…) but also the reason that I had visited… The Coffee Bar roasting their own ‘1645’ coffee beans and serving up the most amazing coffee.

The perfect present (if you can hand it over...)

The perfect present (if you can hand it over…)

The brand ‘1645’, with its distinct red packaging, is an ode to the date of the opening of the first coffee house in Europe. Actually in Venice, to be exact.

Pas’ lovely wife Lee took me through the whole process of sourcing and roasting the beans. I couldn’t get over the huge (and totally magnificent) roasting machine. That was enough to make me want to stop by everyday…

Their achievements around Australia are gaining serious recognition too…

From the divine cream Vespa that greets you when you first walk in through the cafe doors, to the love and family feel that envelopes you as you walk around, I just love what they are doing at this place. Not only can you visit the cafe and experience all the deliciousness, but their product is also available in various stores around Adelaide, including all Romeo’s Foodland Supermarkets.

It would be well worth your while picking some up and giving it a go, trust me. Besides the fact that it is phenomenal to drink, you are also supporting a local, hard working, family run business. Win/win!

Now… another flat white?!
