Adelaide Theatre Bushfire Appeal Fundraiser

The SA arts community is coming together to raise funds for bushfire relief on 1 February at the Arts Theatre in a family-friendly variety show.

The current situation of bushfires around Australia is the worst the country has ever seen, with a State of Emergency declared in NSW along with catastrophic fires burning in Victoria and our own state of South Australia.

People are working together around Australia to fundraise and raise awareness for the people, animals and communities that have been affected and are still being affected by these fires. This is exactly what the Adelaide Theatre Guide is doing. On Saturday 1st of February at 7:30pm at the Arts Theatre on Angas Street, Adelaide, the Adelaide Theatre Guide is hosting the ‘Adelaide Theatre Bushfire Appeal Fundraiser’ to raise money for those affected by the fires.

The fundraising event is family-friendly and will be a fantastic showcase of Adelaide theatre talent, with a variety of performers and acts presented on the night, from straight theatre to musical theatre, solo artists, acrobatics and dance. All proceeds from ticket sales and online donations are going towards the Australian Red Cross.

The event will be hosted by Mark Oates. Mark is well known among Adelaide audiences, having performed for the State Opera and Civic Park Carols as well as being the Associate Producer and regular host of Broadway Sessions.

Along with the performances on the night, there are a range of raffle and auction prizes that have been donated from Bed and Breakfast accommodation, Tupperware, a Will from Jones Elferink Barristers and Solicitors, a voucher from Spec Savers, books from a local author and trips on the Popeye, along with VIP memberships to theatre companies shows for their 2020 seasons, tickets to various performances throughout the year and wine and chocolate hampers. All money raised from entries for these prizes will be donated to the Country Fire Service Foundation along with any profits made from bar sales on the night.

There are a lot of businesses, organisations and people sharing information and awareness about the current fires in Australia and the devastation they caused, with a lot of fundraising events happening almost daily. This is because the destruction from these fires isn’t just a ‘now’ issue, it will take years to rebuild what has been lost and for the land to regenerate. This is why the Adelaide Theatre Guide has called on the theatre community of South Australia to help raise that little bit more. These affected communities don’t just need the help of everyone now, but they need it long term. Therefore, even when the fires begin to cease, funds will still be needed to support those who were affected and left without homes to go back to.

We are asking for audiences to come along to support this fundraising event for what will be a spectacular evening of entertainment from some of South Australia’s local artists!
