Man Covets Bird
Slingsby will debut their new home The Hall of Possibility, with performances of award winning show, Man Covets Bird
With 19 performances over 2 weeks, Slingsby will focus on bringing this coming-of-age production to schools throughout South Australia. Starring Nathan O’Keefe in the title role and home-grown favourites Quincy Grant, Cameron Goodall and Anya Anastasia performing the original score.
Suitable for children 8 years and above, Man Covets Bird tells the story of a boy who wakes to find he has grown. Outside his bedroom he finds a bird who cannot fly and together the strangers embark on adventures. A story about their journey to the big city and what they find there. A story about flying from nests, birdsong, the nature of man and wild things, and growing up.
Remounting this project 9 years after its premiere is an exciting challenge for Slingsby and all the artists involved. Andy Packer says: “When we created this show back in 2010 Slingsby was just a toddler, a three-year-old company. It is a special privilege to be able to return to this coming of age story as we have come of age as a company.”
