An incredible $381,340 has been raised for South Australian families and businesses affected by the state’s bushfires at the sold-out SA4SA Bushfire Appeal Gala Dinner, held at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Friday January 31st.

$279,086 of the money raised on the night will be donated to the State Government’s SA Bushfire Appeal, which will go directly to those impacted by the fires, with the Government to absorb all administration costs.

An amount of $102,254 was raised by auction items donated by Duncan Welgemoed (Africola) and Tilbrook Estate. This amount will be split between two of the hardest hit Adelaide Hills wineries, Vinteloper and Tilbrook Estate, as well as the South Australian Country Fire Service and the Adelaide Hills Wine Region Fire Appeal.

Presented and hosted by Glam Adelaide and Showcase South Australia, on behalf of the Glam Adelaide Foundation, more than 1,400 people attended the hugely successful black-tie event on Friday, 31 January, which was jointly MC’d by Seven News Adelaide Presenters Jane Doyle, Mark Soderstrom, and Amelia Mulcahy.

VIP guests in attendance included His Excellency The Honourable Hieu (Hugh) Van Le AC – Governor of South Australia and Mrs Le, The Honourable Steven Marshall MP – Premier of South Australia, The Honourable Vicki Chapman – Attorney General, The Honourable David Ridgeway MLC – Minister for Trade and Investment, Mr Peter Malinauskas – MP Leader of the Opposition and Sandy Verschoor – The Right Honourable Lord Mayor of Adelaide.

Stories and video footage of tragedy and triumph from communities coming together to overcome unfathomable adversity set the tone for this event.

Guests enjoyed a spectacular three-course menu, plus canapes, celebrating SA produce, prepared by Simon Bryant (Director of dirt(y) Inc. & Event Director for Tasting Australia), Paul Baker (Head Chef of The Botanic Gardens Restaurant) and Gavin Robertson (Executive Chef at Adelaide Convention Centre).

Each course was accompanied with wines and beverages donated by South Australian businesses, including Kirrihill Wines, Yalumba, Hentley Farm, Sparkke, Bickfords Group, Jacob’s Creek, Howard Vineyard, Seppeltsfield Winery, Manyara Wines, and Ubertas Wines.

“We are completely blown away by the support of South Australians,” said Kelly Noble, spokesperson for the Gala and co-founder of Showcase South Australia.

“There have been many people working tirelessly behind-the-scenes to bring what was a truly unforgettable night together to raise much-needed funds for those directly impacted by the fires, and to raise this amount is just phenomenal. We are overwhelmed and very grateful for the support.

“A special thank you to Adelaide Venue Management as this event would not be possible without their generosity.

“Glam Adelaide and Showcase SA realised this event as we wanted to make a difference to those who have gone through great adversity in the past couple of months. We are so pleased to have raised as much as money as we have for the SA Bushfire Appeal, which will go to those who need it most.”

Major partners on the night included the Adelaide Venue Management Corporation, Blackbird IT, Scammells Auction and The Online Director. A full list of organisations, businesses and individual volunteers are listed in the fact sheet here.
